So, I've done a bit of thinking lately. (I know not normal right?) And just had this kind of cool idea. I think so anyways. So I wanted to get some thoughts on it.

Basically a group of wealthy tourist take a trip to places the shouldn't. Border Worlds, Taus, places like that still in the early stages of humanities colonization. Hey they have money so screw the rules. On one such hijinks filled adventure, their private ship gets attacked, damaged or whatever you would like to happen to it and they get stranded on a planet far away from help. The resulting crash, or maybe some effect from a strange atmosphere causes the survivors to lose all previous memories.

Well, while they clamor around searching for more people and trying to figure out what happen they find a stack of badly damaged holo vids. Basic stuff movies, and other entertaining visual stimulates. Having no other reference on how society works they adopt all their social normals, beliefs, language, and culture on these movies ("Historical Documents")

Some examples would be to actually have some players pick aspects of real movies and taking parts of them as this factions behavioral norms. Such as taking a Clint Eastwood movie, or 24 and CSI type shows and basing all criminal justice on it. Or better yet, judge dread.

Many many years later their society is discovered by some Bretonians or someone who has operations in the Border Worlds. Now not one of the original survivors is alive today, just their decedents. So their views are even more skewed and warped then before. These people claim to be the decent of a race of humanoids from outside the galaxy sent on an envoy blah blah blah. No one has any idea their entire culture is based off of holo vids. Once again hijinks ensure.

Not sure if this is a good idea, might be just be the combination of alcohol and watching star trek reruns.

It's actually an epic idea.

And yet still, no.

While it would be quite funny and the like, I think it would grow old quite fast.

I'd love to see that, personally. I'd laugh my ass off.

CSI: Freelancer.

And the main character puts his sun glasses after saying "you are arrested"

D: soru, don't want.

CSI is Sci fiction already... why you need to add freelancer to it anyway?

It actually doesn't have to be a funny faction. It can still be serious, maybe their fanatics now. Based on some evil ideology they learned on the tapes. Maybe they believe human sacrifice is still okay, or from their "Historical Documents" they garner they are a chosen race that should inherit Sirius.

Once again just tossing around ideas. I actually don't have any plans at the moment to run a faction.

CSI is Sci-Fi?

On the topic though, I think it would be amusing. But no direct imports please, you could always use common TV themes and create Sirius equivalents to them.
