I think we would all like a few little tweaks here and there. I'm sure we would all like our own weapons to. What about me, huh? I've been here for over two years now, and I have not seen any "Kriegs' Battleship Turrets" anywhere. Neither have I seen "DarkStars' Lasers," so what's up with that?

Yes, that's sarcasm, ladies and gentlemen. No, I do -not- support "clan" specific weapons. We have class 9s for almost all the NPC factions in discovery, why not use some of those?

I wasn't talking about just BSG ones. Say we made some HF turrets, or "Mark Kaine's Uber-Inferno". Some random person on Discovery Berlin 4.83 doesn't care about me, or my clan.

I am a long-absent Supreme Commander, Executive Commander, Grand Admiral, Fleet Admiral, and Captain in the mighty Hellfire Legion. I have returned, and am on an urgent mission from Drake Thastus to return the Legion to its former glory, and to claim the galaxy for its own. Only then will I be able to rest.

I guess you're right. I'm just a little confused because nobody seems to mind the Battlestars themselves.

On a side note, Darkstar is a really cool movie.:)
Maybe we could implement intelligent bombs to replace nova guns.

EDIT: woops, that was directed at Kane.
BFH: I guess I got that wrong. Didn't think that this was about relating to actual people or clans but about further implementing BSG and similar SciFi sources.

Plot summary for Dark Star (1974)

Low-budget story of four astronauts in deep space, whose mission is to destroy unstable planets in star systems which are to be colonized. The late Commander Powell is stored in deep freeze, where he is still able to offer advice. As their mission nears completion, they must cope with a runaway alien which resembles a beach-ball, faulty computer systems, and a "smart bomb" who thinks it is God.

I agree. We do not need Player-character faction guns. If we could, the planet killed would be outfitted with, 'Planet Killer Cannons' and you can all guess that would be some serious power gaming:)

And anyways, I just don't think it's necissisary. We have perfectly acceptable class 9 faction guns already. Maybe its tome to make buy-able class 10 guns for all the factions, I can tell they would be helpful and people wouldn't always have to use codes or nomads.

You make it sound... boring. The beachball alien rules!
John Carpenter is great, in general. "The Thing" is one of my favorite movies.

I see. Well, let's just cancel those then.
Maybe the NPC factions that don't have their own weapons could get those with the next patch or so, so that aligned clans can have the according equipment.

The thing about the Battlestar, is that its not BSG. It's infocard is changed to make it fit in Freelancer. The Cylon Raider's name was changed to make it fit in Freelancer. Battlestars are manufactured by Zoners, not some random BSG thing. The thing with BSG cannons, would be that they are BSG cannons.. Thats NOT Freelancer. We integrate ships we needed to fit Freelancer. We don't NEED a BSG cannon. IMG have level 9s, thats sufficient.

(sigh) And did I even mention BSG when suggesting it? Don't worry, fellaz, I know how touchy ya'all are on this. My suggestion applies to every PC/NPC faction in existence.

Nothing specifically BSG, resembling the original ones? perhaps. But not named KEWs or Aries defence turrets, but let's say...

IMG nosferatu 40mm autocannon. The faster-shooting and weaker-hitting variant of the Vampire IV. Just like the Vengeance compared to the magma hammer.

Or... IMG heavy railgun turret - a battleship mounted weapon, packing a huge punch over some 7k distance, but requiring a lot of energy and time to refire.

Everything elegantly fit under FL.

Hehe and by the way, we in a way are a disco mod faction, We are the people, who brought the battlestars here and left the lost battlestar floating majestically in omicron delta. We are those aliens, who built the battlestar, in whiches place freeport 11 was built

Remember, Temp. An auto cannon would not work in space, because well, it's a projectile weapon. You would have to make something that is more laser like, and only uses 1 or 2 words in the name, to make the name seam more Freelancer-ish.

The other problem is, the 'buying of faction specific weapons' outside of whats available. No way, just good
old chequebook gaming rearing its ugly head once more ...
So while we are here, lets troll out the shield and powerplant upgrades, and of course, the good old cloaking device again ...
