How far can RP go?

As far as people are willing to let it.

Now what does that mean?
That means as far as anyone else who will consider interacting with you is put off by your character. If my characters met a furry in space, I'd keep it in character, because that's my preference. However, for other people, it may be an atmosphere breaking concept, one that doesnt fit with their notion of RP, and they will refuse to interact at all. This fits with people's belief that everyone has their own notion of RP.

Thus, people are free to RP what they want.
And people are free to ignore or embrace that RP as they see fit.

It would help if there was a substancial amount of explanation, in character, for the existence of something like a furry though. Explain genetics, changes of the bases, alter-effects (some of which may be detrimental), unforseen problems (cat-furry malting and/or coughing up hairballs), changes in instincts, and most importantly imo for the RP environment, a change in the pattern of thinking.

That's my opinion, one in a sea of just as many different ones.

Seems pretty harmless to me.

If said player expects to be treated like a normal human however is where the problem comes in. Sirius does not have a good history with aliens or alien influences.

Really, anything that can be done will eventually be done. There just has to be an explanation.
Furries=Science stuff.
Imports=Events in other dimensions having such an impact that they start to exist almost everywhere.

I don't see how someone's char being a 'furry' makes any sort of difference on RP or whatever.

Unless I have mistaken the meaning of the term 'furry' and a furry is actually an excessively hairy 56 year old pervert in old underwear.

Even in that case, however, the only consequence is a bit of awkwardness.

It's not that, it's the OOC information that is given by the player that their character is a dragon winged, fur covered and yiff loving demi-god and if you dare disagree you must be metagaming.

Claiming to be such and such inRP isn't bad at all.
Claiming to be such and such OOC can be bad.

Well, here in real life I do a part-time job for someone who seriously claims to have an allergy against certain colors (red and blue). She claims to have autoimmune reactions when she gets close to something of either color.
I wouldn't be surprised if she would tell me the next day that her mother was a "dragon winged, fur covered and yiff loving demi-god".
Is that OORP? No, it's just real life. Just because not everyone claims stuff like that it doesn't mean that noone does.

It's just that a small percentage of people have a strange imagination of the reality as you see it. Go with it in RP (or real life) or don't. The choice is always yours.

What's wrong with using the face of a porn actress to represent one's character? Are you trying to say men and women who work in the pornographic industry are any less human than those who don't?

And this is the backwards thinking that prevents progression in areas not only limited to the scope and believability of various roleplays.
