Civilians would only be using their weapons to ''try'' to intimidate pirates or use them to hold off a pirate until they can make it to a docking point. Sides Purple Goddess isn't too bad really.
If you're shooting at a transport - especially with chainguns - it's supposed to take a long time in a Light Fighter. That's not exactly what that ship class and weapon type is supposed to deal with, to say it like that.

Actually, depending upon what state you're in, that's not a problem. On the same street as my store, we have three gun stores within a span of two blocks. I can walk into any one of them and walk out (after filling out the appropriate paperwork) with an AK-47 or AR-15.
Arizona is an open carry state, and if you want to carry it - feel free to do so. We can openly carry pistols here in Indiana.
In any event, regarding the specific topic - if you're going to attack transports, then get the right equipment. If that means you can't use a light fighter, then sorry, too bad, you can't mount mortars on that light fighter, so deal with what you CAN use.

Flashpoints are decent guns. Purple Goddess are alright as well. Both could do with a bit of an improvement, but not by much.
Also, having some civvy options for 3.03 and 4.00 guns would be good.
Thread is probably in the wrong section though, could probably use moving to somewhere in the mod discussion sections. Also, this is a bit of a repeat thread... We've had the conversation a good few times.
@ AD - regardless of the motivation, there is comparatively little choice by way of class 8 and 9 guns for civvies, which is something of a shame, in my opinion.
Civilian offensive tech should be used in self defense by individuals right? and yea seeing 2.0, 3.03 4.0 civ guns would satisfy every player. Disco LFs are crap without 10 class slots.

"AK-47"
AK-47 was a prototype, not even properly working, not a commercial/serial version, not a weapon of mass destruction. sorry but this makes me crazu when people call AK74M/y or similar mods AK47.

Same base for all the variations - just as the US AR-15 is the basis for the M-16, M-16A1, A2, etc...
You missed the point I was making in that I can walk into the store, fill out the paperwork, give them $1,000, and walk out with an AK-47 style semi-automatic 7.62x39mm rifle. Or give them $350 for a .22LR version of the same thing. $1200 for a Colt AR-15 in .223 caliber. Or $1600 for an H&K rifle that fires .45 ACP.

There is no heavy fighter in the game that can carry a snac.
