Well Xit, I didn't think that you'll support prohibiting usage of F1 in any situations, but if you already do support it, probably worth thinking about...

Igiss, Freelancer has a very good reputation system with 50 factions. I don't fully understand this comment but I guess you're referring to clan 'factions'.

Clan factions are not part of Freelancer, and I didn't support your proposal to add them in. Personally, I don't care which clan claims ownership of Omicron Gamma, Tau-29, or any other system. They're welcome to attack me under the server rules, but it won't persuade me to recognise them. An easy solution would be for each clan to align themselves to an in-game faction or factions, like the Bounty Hunters or Liberty Navy, and role-play accordingly. Then they would have a real reputation.

Most clans at the moment appear to be neutral in game terms; the only real identity they have are the comments on this board.

Role-played characters:
daedalus - Liberty Navy
bandersnatch - Ruthless criminal possessed by a (huge) alien
Shredder - Small-time Kusari pirate, looking to join the Blood Dragons

I guess that this F1 thing is getting too complicated.
The simplest way of fixing it is by prohibiting the usage of F1.
If you are going in a trader who has a lot of valuable cargo, you allways can check the navmap to see if there are hostiles in the place you are going to jump.
And to avoid people from F1ing, we can remove the F1 menu from the game. Ive seen a version of the FreeLancer.exe that has the F1 menu removed. It is only accesible while you are docked.

I agree with Korrd, we should only allow F1 on planets. That would fix the cheating we are having.

It's all a matter of whether or not people roleplay their character. If someone who is not hostile on my hud shoots at me, and I know I won't stand a chance, I F1 out of there.

But if people actually do show up hostile, i.e. roleplay a pirate properly, then I accept the risk, and just deal with it. Normaly fleeing or docking with the nearest station/planet possible or just plain dying. :D

Of course if people aren't hostile towards me, but for example want to tax me for flying through their system, and I refuse (which I will always do), and they attack me because I refused, then that's again ok. It's in character.

The only thing that I dont like is that you have to warn your enemy befor attacking them. That is kinda gay. I mean when your at war and you see an enemy in your space your not going to be like EXAMPLE "[SF]-SFB-Just_Josh I am attacking you for being in [AW] space, leave now or be killed" Tell me your not going to type that all in when your at war with the person. just like in real war would you say. "I am engaging Iraqis Bravo 23" no your not ur just going to shoot. I mean come on scratch that part. Everything else is good. Oh and the thing about redoing the server. Well I say that the thing like you buy a bribe is gay. Thats how Ioncross Freelancer works and it is kinda gay. Just resort the clans into different systems. And no one can claim NY. AT ALL. Then put say [SF] In leeds and have them buy cambirdge for like 100 to 200 million credits and then have them pay 50 to 100 million credits a week, month or whatever to keep them under there contol. But have it so that a clan can only have so many systems like max is 5. Or somthing like that. I am just trying to help. But keep the cap ships there are now and if your guna make more different ones dont go all out like something no one has ever seen befor. Keep it Freelancer. Dont try to change the game completly (like other mods do) I like how Discovery is right now anhd I would not change anything because it keeps the real game togeather but adds more. Ok well I think thats all i have 2 say. Stay frosty out there.

Yes, but in that situation the hostility is already known and acknowledge by both sides (the factions know they're at war). You wouldn't need to send any sort of warning before attacking in that situation.

The communication is more for pirating and policing a "neutral" group. Ex. SF asking a neutral faction to leave their space, or a pirate asking for cargo. The only group of people that this rule should pose a major problem for are terrorists who basically attack anyone and anything for no reason. And maybe to handle those chars they should simply have say a -terr tag at the end of their name so that everyone knows to keep an eye open.

Or maybe they should just manage their reputations properly so they appear as bad-guys to the do-gooders.

daedalus - Liberty Navy
bandersnatch - Ruthless criminal possessed by a (huge) alien
Shredder - Small-time Kusari pirate, looking to join the Blood Dragons

Ok about the SB and NB problem. How about the players who are going to fight jettision their SB's and NB's so that no-one can use any? It's easy to check by scanning each other or having a neutral and unbiased third party to watch. That way whoever wins can use the SB's and NB's and leave the rest for their opponent.

First, this isn't going to help much but..... Its a game, its for fun, we are not deciding the fate of the world.

You people get too worked up about this. If someone you absolutely HATE plays the server, make their gaming experience a living h___ whenever you see them. Most likely, they'll leave eventually.

EDIT: Oh and this means the previous rules were fine.
