Hello there!

Just logged on the forums and gave some thoughts.

Transport, Gunboat, Cruiser and Battleship class vessels all have their own basic stuff like turrets or missle turrets ect. So why doesn't have fighters any basic sutt?

Okay we have flashpoints and debilitators, but how about having civilian/basic 2.00 3.03 4.00 and 5.88 hullbusters aswell? I mean since there are civilian ships wich are free to use, then they should have weapons wich all kind of speed. Would be useful for independent pirates, mercenaries, vigilantes, freelancers ect, who don't want to get permission from faction for their weapons and don't really like codename weapons at all. The damage would be up to the balance team. They could have the worst damage but still I know a lot of people who would actually used them.

My other idea: Having a borderworld and civilian version of the gladiator class. (4 guns, torpedo slot+cd slot, class 9 shield ect). I mean in roleplay it doesn't take to be a genius to create a ship wich has 2 slots. Would be ideal for merc who prefer having a razor in combat but still don't want to let his target run away. But for the razor he should pay with lower hull, class 9 shield and only 4 guns (maybe the borderworld could have a turret aswell, since all of the ships of this class has a turret that fires forward)

Any thoughts? I think having basic weapons is logical and could fit into game. about the ships, I don't know.. maybe

Ps.: Did not know where to post this so flood seemed to be the best choise ^^

It'd go to general discovery forums i think, anyway.

You have flashpoints (8.00), purple godesses (6.67) and other civilian guns. I really think there are enough of civie guns around. You can also use codenames, considered universal, for your 2.00/3.03/4.00 needs.

There aren't any civillian guns with lower refire rates and codenames are expensive.

This is my point. Flashpoints are okay, but not everybody likes 8.33 guns. Most of the people using 3.03 and 4.00 far as I know. And Yeah Codenames are expensive. Means if you want to create a character who uses guns with lower refire rate and wich is independent from every faction ingame you must have atleast 40-50 million credits for only the 4 hullbuster guns.

Yeh. I'm all for this idea. I prefer guns with about 4.00 or 3.00 refire rate.

Yes.. there should be some real civilian weapons, more types.. I don't see reason why there wouldn't be any new ones.
Unless some don't want few more KBs in files..
Effect can always be copied from low ranked guns that no one ever uses.

Yeah me too : ))

But currently 4 guns of this type costs more than the ship with AU8, class10shiled nuke ect. So the ship with guns would cost over 60-70 million what a new comer can't afford. But in my opinion a starter player who wants to stay independent should have the same choise in weapons like others. And even corporations could put good use to these.

Since 'civilians' created great ships like the Eagle, and even flashpoints and debilitators, then they could have made guns with other refire rate to give guns for every needs.

And yeah effects can be made, simply change color and size of the projectle (like krakens and buckshots, same projectile but other color).
I think I'll write up the stats and find/create a projectile for them. I'll post them here later, maybe more people might be interested, if I can provide more details.

First of all there are no good codenames with 4.0 refire. There are phoenixes but the projectile speed is absurd for a 4.0 refire weapon. You think there are enough civilian weapons? There are two civilian weapons *facepalms*

Secondly, not everyone likes codenames. For instance, I cant use refire 2.0 codenames, at all. The only ones I use are 3.03 (Twilights and/or Prometheuses), and lets face it, higher refire codenames like Dulzians or Solarises suck so hard that its not even worth mentioning.

Why not give us civi refire 4.0 weapons? I mean, as Peter said, gunboats have basics, cruisers have basics, hell even freakin battleships have basics, is it so hard to give fighters civi 4.0 weapons? There are people there that don't want to ask factions permissions for their guns, and even if they do, these guns come with restrictions like ZOI, people who you can shoot (you cant shoot the faction that gave you the guns, or its allies) and some others.

I mean, I wouldn't even mind if these civi 4.0 weapons would have lower damage, make it that way by all means, its logical. Just give them 700 or 750 projectile speed and make them refire 4.0 >.>
Heck why not even 3.03, as long as they are CIVILIAN, and open to EVERYONE

Here's the issue in one post contradicting itself. They should be weaker... but then they suck and are not worth using.

There can be civilian guns with less refire than 6.67, but then again they will be worse than faction guns and mentioned codenames... and then they are not even worth mentioning. :wacko:
