Why nerf mining when you could've, y'know, boosted trading?

I want to get off Mr. Igiss' wild ride.

change the code for 6 commodities with about 10 selling points, or change the code for 67 (or however many) commodities and their sale prices on like a zillion stations.

Little work vs lots of work. I can understand why.

No it's not a democracy. Thank god.

Democracy and the internet to not mix well.

This isn't going to make more people trade, I hope you realize that. Even with smaller profit people will still prefer to mine. There are other people like me, and a lot of them, that wont trade no matter what. Many of us have no desire to waste hours of our time flying back and forth to make fake money. I'd rather be RP'ing, fighting, exploring, etc. Mining is a good way to spend a couple hours to make a lump sum all at once, instead of a couple hours to make 50 small sums that add up to more. It sounds the same, but it isn't. Just watch, people are still going to mine, not trade. What then? Cut the ore prices in half again?

You missed all the threads about "Overdemanding", "F1ing when someone gets in the system", pirates abusing of piracy, miners re-engaging with gunboats, pirates F1ing in mining fields, miners swearing, pirates swearing, F1ing in jump holes, pirates destroying cargo that they can't carry, people being just greedy, the community spoke there.

It's like "if you can't play well with the toys we gave you, We'll take them away".

Could we at least change the price of ships to fit this change? <_<

The prices of ships werent balanced around mining in the first place.

I think the imbalance has to do with mining being a lot more fun than trading. Trading is incredibly boring, mining is a fresh change of pace.

I've never really done any trading in all my time here in Disco, I hate it, it's so incredibly boring. I do however mine, I found it to be way more fun than trading. It's almost soothing and it makes an income. Now that's gone as a viable income, trading is way more profitable and the only real way of making money again. So I suppose I'm right back to being super poor.
I agree. My time as a miner was sooooooo much more fun than trading, but my favorite route was nerfed into oblivion a long time ago. I have since been forced to turn that char into a Hacker. I very much approve of mining over trading, even though I only trade. Mining actually has interaction, trading is flying in a circle. Repeatedly.

PvP abuse, IMO.

Ok... this isn't me saying this, but I thought it kind of fitting... if I get in trouble.. I guess I can take a hit for it:

Enjoying a game isn't always taking the easy route, sometimes you have to take chances and trust in luck, sometimes that luck takes a big bite out of your backside.
