Here's something: A corporate trader can haul up to 5000 units of cargo at once. A miner requires a hauler to carry that same amount, therefore more ships are needed to mine than to trade. Otherwise, the traders would run out of stuff to trade. I realize not all traders use 5000 unit transports, but it's still a good point. I am 189.253% (and a half) against the nerfage, even though I don't even mine myself.
Another point: if the companies that buy the ore are facing a problem with pirates, then they should raise the prices, not lower them. They aren't going to try and discourage people from doing business with them because of pirates. They're going to try and raise them, so that miners will continue mining in spite of the pirates. Lowering the price that the company buys the ore at will, combined with the pirates, cause the miners to all leave. It seems that this is the goal of this nerf, which is completely nuts.
So tell me: Why would you do this, Cannon? It's clearly against the will of the majority of this community, and it doesn't help anything at all. I believe this nerf will cause major problems in the community, destroy RP, and tear Disco apart. I beg of you, unnerf!

PvP abuse, IMO.

[font=Century Gothic][size=medium][color=#FFFF33]In the beginning, the Admins bestowed their gifts
warning the children that they must be used wisely
and peace must remain

Since that fateful day, much wailing and gnashing of teeth transpired.

The Admins looked upon the strife that the children had brought upon their own
and the humble sandbox in which they lived

And said "This will not be"

This game helps me to vent whenever i'm feeling out of whack. Now? Since mining is nerfed to all hell, I have so spend TWICE AS LONG to get anything done. If it stays like this for long, then I may seriously never come back to disco. Factions are going to die people, don't let this happen.

I wanted to quote these posts (Nothing bad on these posts by the way, I respect them) . .

It just seems that I remember something simular to this awhile back . . I think it was, Yes! . . Trading . .

Look, we all like to make quick cash here in game, (Myself included), to get that great ship, or fund our factions, etc. But there are reasons, fair to us or not, that people abused this and changes needed to be made . . .

I do understand that mining has extra trials on them compared to trading or what ever way there is to make credits, but the admin team must have decided to try something different . . .

I say at least we wait awhile to see if how these changes go before we get all (as some say /ragequit or something like that) . .

I remember I was a little ticked when Xoria first implented his trading system here, but after a while, I adapted and now understand why it is in place . .

One last thing to say . . I would hope that all the pirates would adapt accordingly in their demands to miners based on this new decision . .

Give it a chance folks before we judge it, OK?

I really think we should start a thread, "The Gospel according to RonG" For all the awesome, wise posts he makes. Seriously, he is well worth listening to.

i find the entire mining, boring excuse to pvp anything you see.

Edit: Well. It seems this applies better to factions...

Oh, sure, let's give shooting ourselves a chance, maybe something good will happen.
I propose that everyone opposed to this nerf should get together and lolwutt in the most powerful ship they have. If we get enough people, the admins can't possibly sanction us all.

Ron, I really hate to have to do this, but no. Don't you get it? I don't make money trading. Pirates eat half your profits or more, escorts (that don't always work, as I have long since learnt) can eat even more. The best you can do trading is about 30 mil an hour. A large number of the runs under Xoria's trading system involve blockade running, which sucks. I use the term large relatively, you understand, because there aren't that many. It used to be that you could string together whatever made money and call it a trade route - you'd do okay regardless. Now there are about twenty triangles spread across Sirius that represent all of the normal trade routes. Ron, this sucks. I don't even want to do anything with my money anymore, I just want to make some and go somewhere interesting in the process. I can't do that right now. At least, with mining, I could make money and talk to people (the majority of whom were not pirates). Now the money part is gone. I might as well go back to not making much money in a liner. This happened because somebody is lazy (and probably not Cannon, as Dusty's poem rings true).

To be honest I gave up mining awhile back because of the pirates
I found that I made more on my trader than my miner.
As for nerfing it I don't fell it is a good idea, ust buff the trade routes.
At least this should reduce the lolwut pirates as they are going to have a harder time of it now.
