Believe a SCRA member that has to use these ships everyday. It's needed. Seriously, the current ships are huge and have a buggy hitbox. Even Timmy Lolwut can do serious damage to these things and believe me, Timmy Lolwut is everywhere.

Ah, well, erm, i still like the current ones better. Oh and it's not Timmy Lolwut, it's usually Bob lolwut.

Tommy is Bob's ugly cousin with the buck teeth. He tends to swarm more than Bob.

And these ships are REQUIRED, not for looks, but practicality, you ever fight in a Partisan? It's like trying to steer a trolley with a cow on it in a crowded supermarket...Sure they look pretty, but their crap to fight in. These new ships while they arn't the most beautiful ships their more practical for us.

"Advanced Hessian Technology"? Hessian powercores are horrible! There's no sodding way they could be used to create a ship with a "superior" powercore when compared to most ships. :laugh:

Last Time when someone was developing new Ships for the Coalition, there also have been Rumors of a Battleship. I know Igiss said "No Coalition Battleship" or so, but I am curious if that has changed and/or you are attempting to model one of those.

Also, no Pictures of the Gunboat and Cruiser yet Dx

Actually the Odin has a better powercore than the Sabre. That and armour are the two things that Odin excels in over the Sabre (which still has the speed, size, and gun number advantage). Thor can similarly be compared to the Falcata (larger powercore etc.) though Falcata has a bit more armour while still being smaller, and Thor has 5 guns firing forward. So I guess Hessian power cores aren't that terrible after all.

he might have referred to the rather crappy look of the reactors ( or if you like a nicer description, the much jules verne look of them ) - with the pipes and the size they simply do look like a 1930s ford compared to a 21th century car ( hessian ships vs. BW ships )

bw ships have no visible reactor - which also means that the reactor is smaller in most cases. there are no pipes and cables on their outside - and their cold blueish steel colour can be associated with a higher level of technology - compared to the rusty bordeaux / greenish look of the hessian ships.


stats only say so much about a ships technology. - after all, even vanilla lore suggests that corsair ships are 20% faster than others... yet the stats don t reflect that, - but that doesn t mean it may not be RPed as such.


edit: and you lost your bet, the response was an attempt to explain why hessian ships may look "crappier" than BW ships - and that ships derived from hessian ships may not look "top of the line", too. ( and no, no one ever said they ought to look like that )

I'll be sure to remember this for the next time somebody says the Sabre is overpowered.

And yes, I was speaking off the rather crude appearance of the reactor... Placing it on the outside of the ship also seems to be a nice way to make sure that your pilot will die in a nice explosion once the shields are down, but what do I know?

Edit: Now let's have some fun... Will all the ships be the same size or will they vary in size in order to make sure that we don't have Dagger-sized bombers and VHFs running around?
