Do you think Junkers might have mobile buildings that float around all gypsy style?

Kind of like wagons in space that they live in, but with lasers?

I mean, let's say a Junker lives in his rather large ship, bigger than most peoples' houses. What's the point in even owning a house then?

I'm getting to the point where I'm going to say that spaceship owners won't need houses, since they can make their ship their home.

Now, if we don't need houses, since the building is unnecessary, why do we need pubs? We could just use ships, and when the Zoners whine at you, say you were delivering them some drugs.

I'll have what you are smoking.

Yet another suggestion:

"This is a Bretonian themed bar. We're Zoners running this. An accent? Sure, yeah, born on Leeds. And, yeah, all the punters are Bretonian. I've no idea why people keeps thinking this is a Bretonian pub though. All our bar staff are Zoner girls.

Well, I guess getting an interest-free loan from Bowex, and the fact that the director is my cousin might make one suspicious, but hey, I like the fact that I can do what I like here, so I'm a Zoner, serving beer to Bretonians only, since that stops any potential fighting.

Anyway, Bretonian themed bar. Quit making that mistake like everyone else does!"

In fact, that would fit. The thread didn't say that Alan Howard worked for Bowex. It said that he had financial help from them. He could be a card carrying Zoner, if a dishonest one.

You are playing what if this and that.

None of the what if this and that you are presenting have happened.

Not that it matters but how many times do I have to ask people to role play it out? Is that asking to much? I mean I think I've made it clear we have on intentions of keeping the bar closed and that I myself look forward to the role play it will create.

You shut down the pub, assuming it was Bretonian.

We don't know that for a fact, only having suppositions. The pub is/was owned by a player character named 'Alan Howard', financed in part by Bowex, remaining the sole owner. That strongly implies that he is not a Bowex rep, or Bowex employee, but someone who lives on the planet (probably) and does business with Bowex. The strong likelihood, from what we've seen, is that he is Bretonian, yes. However, that would be supposition. That would be like myself supposing that a Celtic pub in Glasgow named "O'Toole's" was run by an IRA sympathising Catholic, when it could very possibly be owned by a German with a love for Guinness and cock jokes.

Now, you can go and shut a potentially Zoner pub for serving Bretonians, but that would make them all go to a speakeasy anyway. The problem you have here is that you're becoming that wich you left the houses to avoid. Cue the Shakespeare.

Now, roleplaying it out will certainly be interesting, so perhaps I am being overly critical of the anarchists' slide into authoritarianism, which was bound to happen at some point (In my oh so cynical opinion). I am probably being overly critical in thinking 'No way would these people bother their arses to shut a pub when they've got real issues to deal with'.

Your point? People do things on assumptions on a daily basis.

Your view that we are anarchists is your view. Not ours.

Who says the actual Zoner leader characters shut it down? If you read it an un-named character shut it down. Yes, in role play the leadership is busy with other things. We got wind of a the bar, we gave the order to shut it down.

A good point. The random gun-toting yahoos may end up getting ignored, or shot up, or offered a discount good for one Sidewinder Fang.

Of course, the chances are, they'd open another pub, ostensibly a Zoner pub, but with big Union Flags, and a name like 'Queen Vic', until it got to the point where pubs with a theme were shut down. No more Irish pubs for Mollys.

All in all, very silly. Bowex will probably complain to the Zoner Alliance, who then apologise and administer mob justice to the yahoos, making the entire fuss completely and utterly pointless.

Look, the whole issue is this and the ZA leadership discussed it. We saw this as another Bretonian entity moving into Omega 49. Bowex previously had moved in to create Port Jackson and back then, the RP was more or less forced. We negotiated that with a mutually beneficial agreement.

More recently, I have seen BPA officers taking up residence on GC. Granted, one of them I spoke with and we made an understanding that they had no authority there AFTER they were trying to get some of their buddies to join them and had also made an idle threat to Doc himself.

Combine all this with the fact that Bretonia is losing a war and territory to Kusari and it looks an aweful lot like they are moving in to make a move on the planet much like Liberty did to Erie. While the bar may be privately owned by a Bowex employee, opening it without knowledge of the Zoner committee seem a little odd. When we discussed this bar, we also felt that it could be used as a point of reference for another move by Bretonia on our home world. I mean, put yourself in our shoes....if you can. I'm sure most cannot.

-Magoo
It is amazing how many feel how dare we pull together a little tighter.

Quote:I think the ZA response to this is absurd. If the Corsairs want to open a bar, in their community on GC, that is laid out by canon (not the admin) would the ZA close it?
-Zelot
Based on what I said, is it really? I think, Zelot, that you and I have RP'd things out quite well before despite our differences. I don't think it's much to ask that we be asked about opening such a place.

I don't expect the nay sayers to change their minds but I do want our point of view seen, whether or not you agree with it.
Now, as earlier stated, this whole issue is being worked out in Skype. Let's leave it there.

Alliance won't be apologizing and if role playing is pointless why are you here?

All we have done is role play.

This is a RP server no?

So whats the problem?

What we did doesn't fit your idea of what we should do? We don't care. They are our characters.

Instead of playing what if like Blunt wants to do, how about some role playing?

I believe the issue was that you roleplayed for the Bowex players, hence words like 'powergaming' being used. The bar manager, for instance, was roleplayed as resisting arrest. That isn't your character to play with. You could have the sheriff try to arrest him, but his response would not be yours to make. That was jammi's 'no chance for interaction'.

For instance, if I was playing the character, I may have simply apologised to the coppers, and shut the place, then contact Colony News Service and sell the story. I'd then park my liner-cum-nightclub nearby with big Bretonian flags on. Instead, the opportunity for that interaction was removed, because the other player, who doesn't own the character, had him resist arrest.

Lessons in roleplaying.:P
