Definately yes. I have the boxset for seasons 1-5, and it's brilliant stuff.
[17:45:39] Wolfs Ghost (Murphy): Tom, you have problems. Go kill yourself.
[19:25:12] Johnny (Jam): Tomtom, I will beat you with a spoon.
[14:22:56] Prarabdh Thakur: KILL HIM WITH A SHEEP.
[17:40:48] Eagle (Junes): Tom should be slapped with a spoon.
[11:32:18] Warspite: Thank you for being so awesome Tom. <3
[18:17:36] Metano: I love you tomtom
[20:06:24] Warspite: I will seriously give you epic head.

Yes, if you're into a balance between intense emotional and intellectual action drama. Very good acting, writing and directing as well as special effects. It's immersive, intriguing and touching at times.
You know how old scifi is ketchy and holds poorish plots?
The old BSG is like that. The new one is much more better-er, because modern Scifi has tended to be more like normal shows...just in space.
Of course, people have also gotten a lot better at setting up stories on video media in the last thirty years, such that any serious drama is rather more compelling.
BSG, the new one, is rather good.
Some others you might want to try are Firefly, Dr Who, and...Well, are there any more space operas on TV right now?
I just finished watching those, along with the film that came out after it. Good show. Shame it only got one season.
Another good show is Fringe. Excellent story, it's easy to get immersed in the story. It just finished its second season.

Firefly is sadly short, but golden.
If you watch Doctor Who, try to start with Season 1 and work your way forward - they're just so much better if you've watched the preceding seasons recently. More emotional impact or something, I don't really know. They don't work well independently of each other, I find.
(And with that, I go back to working. Four more hours, blargh.)
