Well..so actually you want to have merc ID and everyday decide is there a bigger bounty on lawfuls and unlawfuls and choose what to do. Bounties have become poor excuse for mindless pvp all the time lately, that is why this is being implemented. If you RP your char...I don't see a problem for having a faction hostile that you intend to kill. If you use it for pvp-ing just because somebody put fake money on his fake head, then you have a problem.
So let's start... you are a merc and your job s to kill liberty navy capital ships. It's not your first job in life. Your first job as a merc would be to kill some nobody rich fat bastard that wouldn't be much of a target, or you were born with abilities to kill everything that moves in ship than I must applaud you.
Second, I don't see the difference between these ID's (merc and pirate one, no I don't mean literally) ... every abused ID got it's nerf, junker one, pirate one (not sure if it was without ninja rep before), and now merc/bounty way of living is being nerfed. (not ID but gameplay wise)
If you want to give me, we use fake ID's and stuff, I can say same thing for a pirate. inRP (which npc's are part of), people will see you, by your ship, behavior, loadout, or your actions, people will tip of the police, or police/navy will spot you themselves.
If you came to kill navy you would become hostile with navy with first sign of suspicion, but no you want to kill 10 ships before you made them hostile. And why does this bother you ? You won't be able to powergame ?..what's the problem enlighten me ?
If you are a killer you wouldn't want to be seen around, anywhere. You would be most happy not to exist anywhere but as an old lost name in pile of computer data. Parading around doesn't make you a hunter/mercenary...it makes you an poor player.
I understand its a server rule. However, it doesn't make sense to make yourself hostile to a faction before you did anything to them.
But yet if a navy/police goes after a pirate you freak saying we cannot do the,i have done nothing wrong.
Bla whine whine whine. As has been said 20 times now the rules have not changed, the admins just made them more clear,so if you have not been following them? count yourself lucky you got away with it,cause now that people re-read them i am sure you will not.
Secondly since most Mercs claim they do not have to be hostile to Navy/police to shoot them? well Navy does not have to be hostile to Mercs to shoot mercs to. My char RP's he hates all Mercs, and if they so much as get close to a fight they are warned to stay away from, they go boom! like it or not,red or not. Leave or be fired on is about all you will get.
Recently a Mercenary character refused to accept my payment for his assistance in combat. It was weird, to say the least. There are still folks who think that, say, you can attack liberty capital ships with just an "excuse" as someone -saying- they will pay you, and then merrily docking with West Point after the fight is over.
This could be a change for the better. Either way, let's try it out and see how it works.
I am not sure that bureaucracy will stop certain groups of experienced(aware about the rules) and skilled PvPers to find a excuse(bounty) to PvP around everything that moves.
Actually I think that the Freelancer id must loose the right to collect bounties.
Right now I cannot see why should I choose BHG ID for lawful merc when I can take Merc ID and be lawful in one house and unlawful in the other.
Merc ID allows me to RP with other factions and get their ships/guns. In proper BHG RP I should stick to BHG tech. And BHG ships received some nerfs- Bottlenose for example.May be unnerf it and allow it only for official BHG players? It will make slight shift of the balance- I mean people who make problems go after blue msgs not after any kind of RP- right now they all use sabres(best civ VHF) with codes and Merc IDs..
Merc ID offers more options - RP and PvP ones- that is the actual problem.
Since there are game mechanics that allow loopholes the only way to be controlled is by changing this ID.In sirius is nothing like Interpol- for example Merc A can kill Lawful ships in Bretonia and the same time to work for Rheinland Military killing Unioners for them. It make no sense in RP why the Bretonian ambassador
would not demand FR5 for this merc in Rheinland. There is no logic why two houses who are not in war and have join efforts to secure space as much as they can (BAF and RM in their treaty about Omega patrols) should allow such thing to happen.
I think that Merc ID problem is the same as the old Miner ID- you cannot be unlawful and lawful at the same time without metagaming- the game mechanics simply don't allow it. The whole bounty problem is Merc ID problem nothing more.
Change the IDs solve the problem.
