In the next revision of this Discovery MOD, the designers should take a look at The Void MOD (http://www.voidserver.com) and observe the number of shortcuts that were added to each system to make travelling times less tedious. For example, the major systems in The Void MOD all have a jumpgate to a new system called Alexandria. Alexandria then links up with several other major systems so one could go from New Berlin to New Tokyo with only 5 or 6 waypoints instead of the crazy number of 45 like it is now. I trust my point is clear, the bottom line is that travelling times need to be GREATLY reduced.

that would unbalance the trade

the mod is meant to be hard, not a huge money grab, and fast travel kinda defeats the point of being huge

This Mod is about balance, friend. I like having to take a few minutes to get across Sirius. If we just have one of those Custodian gates like they do in Crossfire, everything will just go to hell. There'll be SA in Omicron-82 and GoR in Dublin (actually, they'd probably object and leave the server, as they should).

Also:

YOU SAID THE V-WORD!

We're not fond of Void over here. Don't bring 'em up, period.

...explore a little. You can still get between the major houses in three or four systems. Like they said, hub systems really kill the sense of size in a game.

........Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more;..........But when the blast of war blows in our ears,.....
........Or close the wall up with our English dead...........................Then imitate the action of the tiger;.................
........In peace there's nothing so becomes a man........................Stiffen the sinews, summon up the blood,.........
........As modest stillness and humility:........................................Disguise fair nature with hard-favour'd rage!....

Adding such a shortcut would unbalance the mod completely.
Travelling is part of the Discovery experience. Having such a system would kill the feeling of a big sector...

The mod is called discovery for a reason..

i saw you in my GMG character today, and you didnt respond when I said stop when the faction I was in controlled the space..

You are probably new here.

Anyway, the mod needs to be balanced, so thats why there arent shortcuts. if people use shortcuts like that, it would be WAY unbalanced, that and...

Dont say the V word.

PS when your in a factions space your supposed to stop and let them scan you.

Xatrix, as pointed out by all the others, this is Discovery ... And remains unique because Igiss, the creator has
stayed away from making it like other mods ... Like VOID, big, dark and totally illogical.
Then again guys, there is a call to import features from other mods *cough*, Hamburg has been mentioned
recently somewhere, so be careful before a pot/kettle situation rears it's ugly head here.
Lets just keep it Discovery with all it's logical vanilla features intact.

No, as long as it doesn't unbalance the mod or look totally tacky, I think it's okay... I mean, player-docking capships is something we've been after for how long? Jumpholes all over the place, though, will (A) totally unbalance the mod, and (B) be a really, really big pain in the ass to memorize. The map wouldn't even be recognizable; with all the increases, most of the same routes still apply from Vanilla.

Speak for yourself Eppy, I'm in no rush to get player capship docking, and all the problems that will come with
that situation ...
Nor all the other chequebook gaming additions that flood 'other mods'. Note the 'other mods' bit ...
Still Discovery here last time I looked.
