Oftentimes in fights, I loose sight of my reticle amidst all the firing, flashes, suns and planets and makes it really hard for me to shoot straight. I don't see red very well.
I know there used to be a way of changing reticle size and colour from the mouse.ini file but now when I open the file it shows this:

So errrm, did Disco devs hardcode the .ini file so we cant change it?
Or am I a missing something here.
It's probably a binary .ini, try it with an appropriate app to read the contents. So long as I'm right and anti-cheat doesn't cover it (probably does) you can dump that into a standard text file and replace it.
Nevermind I found what I was looking for and it works!

Use Bini to unpack the mouse.ini file located in the /Program Files/Microsoft Games/Freelancer/DATA/ folder,, then edit the resulting unpacked mouse.ini file with notepad.
The three first values in the color (sic) line is the values for Red, Green and Blue, while the last value is transparency according to my docs. A quick way to find out the values for the colour you want, is to open up MS Paint, click on one of the color boxes at the bottom of the screen, then click the "Define Colours" button in the dialogue that opens. Play around with the values for Red, Green and Blue, or click in the colourpicker, and then use those values in the color line.
Save, and dump the new mouse.ini in the original folder. Remember to keep a copy of the original packed mouse.ini file, just for being on the safe side.
Restart FL, and voila, Blue spinning targeting reticule when targeting hostile targets.
' Wrote:Is it possible to redo the graphic for the targeting reticule? like what is done for the rest of the HUD?
Not easily, but you can change color size and turning of the reticule. Changing the color to an intensive blue helps people with red/green-weakness (~7% of male population) a lot in yellow, brown or red -and of course green- environments to see the reticule.
Changing the color is an admin-approved modification.
