Add a FP in S-17?

While I find the idea of a dockable jugger to be really cool (Just cause I really like the ship) I have to agree with Dab. I was going to suggest putting it somewhere other than sig 17, but after Dab's comment I don't see another Zoner base as needed. Now to reapeat Dab again, Corfu is redundant and not really needed at all. Have you thought about maybe replacing that with a dockable jugger if you want it that bad?

You do know it's not the nav map that matters when there are jumpholes that take you across an entire third of the map in one jump, right? There is an FP in Omicron Theta, all of ONE JUMP from Sigma-17 where you suggest we put a Zoner station. A Zoner station in Sigma-17 would be a redundant station with absolutey no purpose, considering there is Freeport 9 next door, and Corfu Base which is already a redundant base, on the other side of Omicron Theta.

Freeport 9 is deep within Corsair-controlled territory, and they have a stronger grip on it than even Outcasts do in Tau-37. Freeport 9 is only one jump from Crete. Sigma-17 would be twice as far from Crete, and is on the border between Corsair and GMG space. It would be a neutral location, unlike Omicron Theta is.

Not to mention the Zoners already have THIRTEEN bases and a planet.. That's not counting thetwo guard systems. Counting them would put us at 19 Zoner stations, 1 Zoner planet. Is there any faction in the mod that DOESN'T need a station as badly as the Zoners right now?

Do you know what a Freeport is? It's a base that just about everybody can dock at. It's not just for Zoners-- Freeports are important to every faction, from Bounty Hunters to Junkers to the various pirate factions, to IMG. There is a vast gulf between a Freeport and "a Zoner base". Even if the Freeport is affiliated with the Zoners, it's not just for them.

I don't want a dockable Jugger. I just want a Freeport in an area between Outcasts and Corsairs, and thought a Jugger would be a cool idea for it. Freeport 9 doesn't count-- no one who isn't already friendly with the Corsairs can feasibly get there, anyway. The location prevents it from being a true FREE port.

Finally, this isn't a thread about Corfu or Sparta or any other Zoner base. Specifically, this thread is about the legacy of Freeport 7, and its important location.

I have to admit, the zoner's would likely have replaced FP7, after all, if they built it the first time, it was obviously usefull, and posting one of those mobile freeports there as an actual dockable base (Like the molly/rouge dessies) would be v. nice I think...

As wonderful as that visual is, that isn't the point of this thread. Your ship is not dockable, and until it is, it cannot be docked with. Therefore, for RP purposes, it's a Freeport... it simply doesn't satisfy game mechanics at present. Hence this thread, requesting something that does.

There's already a Freeport in Baffin. Shasta Orbital Skyhook. Besides, that's nowhere NEAR the Sigmas.

Shasta is a Skyhook, not a Freeport.

Plus theres also FP6 right thru in 29, and FP10 not too much further away in 37.

That said the point of Juggys is they are mostly unseen, this having a dockable one as a freeport wouldnt be that good.

When I have my Freeport out, I tend to purposly stick to clouds and stay off the beaten bath a tad (IE: 13k off the lane. I can be seen, but Im not being obvious).
