If you check the story threads regarding the "Zoner Security Meeting" you will also see James Furgenson, one of the (]c[) leaders, talking about destroying the biodomes.

The biodomes of FP9 are no more.

I do remember this going on during the fight. So there you have it. Officially the ZTC say they fragged the FP. I would have a screen shot but I was too busy shooting at the Xeno Osiris with Order guns.

Next stop Corfu and FP 5

**Shrugs**

I enjoy roleplaying a Zoner now and then. It is one of the only factions I know in which the playerbase has nerfed itself. I think that's a very commendable thing to do: to nerf your own faction to create an interesting twist in the RP storyline.
The ZTC may end simply to create a cool turn of events in the Discovery plotline. I'm not 100% sure as I'm no longer in that faction. They may not do it. But if they do, my hat goes off to those guys. The entire business of blowing up Freeport 9 and leaving Sirius for another star sector is cool in and of itself.

EDIT: For example, when was the last time that a faction decided to lose? Not because Igiss planned it. Not because the players got bored of playing their faction. But simply to create a dynamic story -- because character weaknesses are part of what makes stories so compelling. It's a refreshing sight to see players behind TAZ and OSI have their characters grovel at the feet of Corsairs. Nobody wants to Roleplay weaknesses. Every faction I look at always behaves as if it has no flaws.

The Outcasts never suffer because of their addiction. The Corsairs seem to have an unlimited amount of food supplies and medicine. Everybody is ultra powerful and self sustaining. So I have nothing but appreciation for those folks that are willing to lose one of their own bases without expecting anything in return.

Funny thing is, this could actually happen around these parts.

Retired, permanently.

That is what happened. FP9 probably got damaged too during the battle, but destroyed ... nope.

when a faction is determined to roleplay to destroy something - and does everything possible to do so...

and the attacked faction ultimately agrees - there is no one to disagree with the destruction.

if the destruction of a place was not wanted in the first place - why has there been an attack RPed as the destruction. when i want to RP to destroy something - i must be ready to have it destroyed actually.

i cannot RP to destroy something and be surprised when its destroyed. the problem with one sided roleplay is - that without coordination - the other side must make decisions, too - and usually one sided, too.

from a devs point of view - deleting a vital vanilla freeport isn t a good thing.... but then.... we let the RP happen that blows it up.... so i wonder, why do we let it happen and not step in - when we don t want it to happen? ( someone that might be able to interfere with such things could have been a gamemaster - a function missing on disco )

Is it definitely going to be inhabited by the Corsairs then?

Freeport 9 is still intact. Just the biodomes are contaminated for several hundreds of years. There are still people living there, or staging from there.
