I still see a chance for the whole situation to improve on the zoner side.

Disbanding is only giving reason to the entities and causes that pushed you to disband. Just play by your rules.

Moreover, I'm quite sure that there is a chance to improve the Zoner relations with the BAF, since the player they wanted to bring to justice is now* totally out of the loop. At least, that would be a good step in the right direction according to me.

:nono:

EDIT: Fixed some typos

I have to agree with King here. You shouldn't have disbanded your faction due to the events caused. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. Did things head south for the Zoners? Yeah, but if you think about it, theres still a chance to turn the tide in favor of the Zoners.

So. Several Zoner factions disbanding, people pushed around enough, people being pissed or just don't want to bother trying to build anymore up here with all the, as mwerte said that nice, trolls and tards around.
Good work people. Really. You can be proud of yourself for being just idiots.

Everybody can be forced to take sides, because even no decision is actually one. That's only reality though.

Issues due to tech abuse led to the necessity of objective rules all three official factions had to apply (the ZA thingie), because only one official faction could veto a permission. Building an umbrella body hence was necessary. Writing down the Zoner Laws followed two goals - providing player guidelines and reliability. But the main benefit of being a Zoner was actually our definition that every Zoner automatically became a part of the alliance. The Zoner Union of Independents was designed to host them all. Oh, and should not be misunderstood as clever move to amass "political" power (ridiculous) but rather a platform where Zoner noobs can attach themselves to those who are more experienced. Uhm, it worked somehow well. But the flaw was that the ZUI hasn't been populated properly, instead several new Zoner groups emerged, which was appreciated thought, because there's no sense not to use a hierarchically optimized distribution of information - fact is, Zoner RP requires a lot of information exchange. Uhm, it worked somehow:)

Our basic problem as Zoner players was to maintain the Zoner Myth, which made this faction so popular, whicle dealing with daily and trivial business. You cannot RP as a professional. Makes no sense.

Edit: Not finished yet ....

Since TAZ and OSI pulled out of the ZA there was again this flaw regarding tech requests. We thought about using a round robin principle of adjournment, but it was actually only gallows humour.

The situation at every FP differs, so the Baffin and Yukon Zoners might have a different perception of Corsairs. The Omicron Zoner are suppoed to know Sairs and OCs pretty well, which is the reason why they had to left in order to prevent stains on their brethren while not submitting to a Corsair powerplay. The only possible solution for this dilemma ... well, you know it already.

Why not submitting? Pretty simple: Eta is supposed to be won by Corsairs anyway, so a basic and dramaturgical very important part of the Zoner RP would be missing in the future - the balancing in the Sair vs. OC war, and playing bored and satisfied Zoners among Corsairs only is - sorry guys - dull.

Oh god.. I can't belove im writing this:

I agree 100% with Divine here..

Let's make this into a calculation

When the Corsairs begin an full out war (Sails, A) against the zoner.

The zoner population decreased rapidly because it wasn't fun anymore.

And don't say: "Yeah well you should have went with it and not emo'd out."

Well, you know what, when people stop having fun people should stop playing and ok..

The ZDF disbanded, the ZTC disbanded, several people stopped playing their Zoner characters (Doc included), several others just left discovery and went to another server where they could RP their characters.

So.. This is alright by the server's standards?

That several people quit because it isn't fun?

Jeez..

Now, I tried to solve the situation ooc for a bit now, but it didn't work, cause the damage had been done.

And Admins, I hope your keeping an eye on this entire situation.

You know, everyone's freaking out about nothing, right? You act like being zoners means no one will ever attack you, so you start screwing around, flying your little caps, and have a general "I'm better than you" attitude. I'm glad someone decided to start things with the zoners. Having no one to conflict with is the most boring thing ever.

Generally, I don't care if the zoners start having enemies. Actually that might give them something to do. Don't act like you guys didn't ask for it.

Might I remind you that Discovery GC is a -roleplay-, not a PvP server. If a large number of players must now find another place to play their characters simply because a bunch of pew hungry individuals got their egos trampled and won't stop this damned "jihad" that as far as I know is so far off of the canon storyline that you'd need months on cruise to get back to Sirius...

Well. Then I'm not surprised roleplayers are leaving GC. It's in my eyes up to the admin team if they want to allow this. RP freedom is one thing. OORP grievance another.

Wide awake in a world that sleeps, enduring thoughts, enduring scenes. The knowledge of what is yet to come.

Its sad to see another zoner faction disband.

I have been just an forum observer in all these events. Although would have loved to see if the zoners struggled through this turmoil, but nevertheless disbanding is also a very decent zonerish solution. People will leave for a while as they are not having fun, but eventually they will come back form new groups or join existing ones.

Though it is sometimes ridicules to see people repeatedly coming up with RP agendas to satisfy their personal vendettas. It does not matter if your roleplay is within server rules, you might write loads of good stories/fiction or whatever, if your intentions are malicious you can wreck havoc on your roleplay targets.

Anyways goodluck to all ]c[ members.

Information, the first principle of warfare, must form the foundation of all your efforts. Know, of course, thine enemy. But in knowing him do not forget above all to know thyself. The commander who embraces this totality of battle shall win even with inferior force.

If this wasn't a PvP server you wouldn't be able to damage other players. RP and PvP are inseparable on this server. If you don't want to fight, find a diplomatic solution, like the other two Zoner factions did.

As to the whole situation, it's kind of sad, really. Not because you're disbanding, but that you're so quick to abandon what you worked for just because some people started shooting you.

I will say this once again: Roleplay is a two-way street. It's acting and reacting. In this case, your reaction was to quit. Now, if you did this with RP reasons, well I'll be interested to see where it leads. But if you're quitting because your imaginary spaceship exploded, for shame.

You got this exactly right. This is what Zoner RP should be. The Freeports don't need to be amassed in one conglomeration, not when we're supposed to have shunned House Governments and be - for all intents and purposes - loners. Each Freeport should be governed by its own entity and that entity should be able to regulate the sale of tech from its Freeports.

If you don't want a certain group using certain tech around your Freeport without permission, then state so. Make players have to request access from the Freeport governors near to where they'd be most active.

The whole thing with Zoner RP is that each Freeport is independent, there is no established government, and we're all just a bunch of people who like to live on the edges of space. This, however, doesn't mean we are cut off from each other. OSI still runs shipments around Sirius to supply the Freeports, as well as traders from local space too. There's still that whole neural network where we could communicate with each other. We just don't have to answer to anyone but ourselves now.

This is all philosophy that will have to be worked out, though. Lots of trial and error, and lots of exercising of our diplomatic abilities.

To the original matter, though, it is sad to see ZTC go. You blokes were a pretty visible Zoner faction and as a fellow Zoner, I can understand the trouble. You all had a big impact on RP and while a little tense, I've actually been really enjoying things lately. I can understand not wanting to deal with some of the bull going around, but it really is a shame that it finally got to you.

I wish all of you who plan on leaving the mod the best of luck, and for those of you sticking around, there's still a lot of fun to be had.
