- Limit them to the LF(or other small ship)
- Limit their speech to preset, so as to not screw up roleplay
- Increase presence in systems; more 'stop-off' points and/or raids. Bases restricted still.
Special drone ID, this also sounds fair.
In fact, put whatever you want on this nomad drone ID, as long as I can actually see people IN the game.
I just made a bomber pirate, cracked a lane and sat there for 2 hours.
NOTHING! I SAW NOTHING! And I was in New York, too!
Jeez, you'd think more people would go to Texas.
*shakes head*
I've been tradin' forever just to get my current tradin' ship and a bomber, I'm tired of tradin' and seein' everyone else doin' nothin' but trade.
Rmorph, you've stated a lot of things that is why I will give you a lot of answers.
' Wrote:SO the primary enemy in vanilla is now a minor presence on the server, fleetingly glimpsed and rarely used.
I came to the server looking for them, and I find their near absence a major downer.
The primary enemy in vanilla is not the primary enemy in disco. The nomads have different goals than annihilation of the human kind. (I speak about the goals of Solomon K'Hara faction)
' Wrote:This is wrong, and has led to a fragmentation of too many groups struggling to find and legitimize their own identities without that important element (alien interaction) serving as a counterweight. It was what drove the excellent sp campaign, and got us all here in the first place.
You are not right about that. The people are not here just because the nomads exist as playable faction. If you were right the server would be full of nomads.
' Wrote:>1. Nomads need serious restoration:

The answers on your statements:
<1. The nomads have good activity considering their player base is low. In the faction its quality before quantity so dont take the nomads as another faction that definetly need 10 + players online all the time.
<2. As I stated above the goals of the K'Hara are not to annihilate so the "commonplace encounters" are just not the faction's goals. What would you expect to see, aliens flying everywhere waving at you ?
<3-4. The nomad's ID's allow the players to engage other players (at least with minimal RP) but they cant be dangerous as you would expect because of many reasons but generally because of the balance making all ships similar, while in the campaign the nomads had superior weapons.
' Wrote:1- but why not take the basic fighters out of the restiction list and let a little mayhem ensue?
2- Right now the drone ID is used to "prove" your rp chops.
This is entirely the wrong focus for such a role.
1. The "basic fighters" are the morphs right now. They are "out of the list" if that is what you mean.
2. Everyone is free to create a morph and learn how to RP like a nomad but its not mandatory to join the official faction. Fly an indie morph if you dont want something more. If you do then what is the problem to join K'Hara?
' Wrote:Create Hives in all houses: A single base that drones may dock to, and that evens the presence across all Sirius.
I see you are interested a lot by the nomads but how you've missed that? There are space stations, call them hives if you want for the nomads in the most important sectors: Kusari (Tekagi Base), Bretonia (Unknown station in Chester), Rheinland (the omega 55 system with the wilder bases), Omicron 99 (Ravine). If you know the location of all the necessary jump holes, you can travel like a real nomad from the north systems to the south for no time.
' Wrote:All the pew-pew crowd could fly nomad drones, and can be hated legitimately and in rp, whilst getting their kicks in a different and rp-logical way than gamma ganking / uber pirating etc etc...
Thats the reason why the faction is not open for all like you want. Anyone that is really interested to RP a nomad should:
1. Have the interest to RP a nomad properly
2. To join the official faction (which is NOT HARD if you want it) not mandatory but recommended
3. To RP/PVP not "pew pew" just because the ID allows it
' Wrote:The server gets a wakeup, and we lose a little of the "political micromanagement" focus of the current storylines, and return to the more epic "humanity must unite against the invaders or die" storyline.
I see you are maybe one of the biggest fans of the "vanilla nomads" but this is disco and here the nomads are NOT what they were in vanilla. There they were supposed to infiltrate and annihilate all humans in sirius. They failed and were ...you know the story.
' Wrote:the nom Sascya vhf, turns like an old man with 2 broken legs, it still rapes if flown right.
Actually that is maybe the only nomad ship not broken right now next to the marduk. Its new tight hit box is making it hard to be hitted. In 4.85 you know that its shield was a giant globe which even a blind and deaf man could SNAC it from 2k range. Now its a beast:)
FallenKnight covers it nicely, except the Das Wilde bases that were in Omega-55 are now in Liberty.
And I just want to say, Nomads are a very iffy thing. Frankly I would only trust a few people to actually RP them properly... they are slow and methodical and they move with a purpose, they are not pew pew.
That and frankly, I think that if there are too many Nomads around their RP style will decline, the fact that there are so few independent Nomad entities puts individual Nomad characters at risk of becoming cookie cutter RPs.
many of our faction member have different hours kept, so you'll only see a few at a time. Recently we've had recruitment open for three months and were concentrating on those candidates now.
While its true I view the faction as being more geared to being one of the "premier" universal bad guys and many feel we should have a much broader technical and balanced edge over the human factions cause of this, currently the factions switched hands and it being just a few months since that my concentrations had been the new rp direction.
Though when the mods out of beta (and some times passed) I will be pursuing any possible balance shortfalls that faction members and casual observers have made (cruise speed, cloaks, supposed nerfs, sexrobot etc) i think everyone been nerfed to some degree and seeing how balance truly plays out will take well into summer.
Also.. summer time will see more folks "off" school and more folks playing video games. So i would say.. give this time for participation.. and our presence to re assert itself.
Finally. the morph id is a defensive id in nature.. every non membership morph ive seen.. either fulfills a code hunter or.. trolling role.
Ive only seen one serious morph not interested in khara membership, and i feel because of these poor examples over the years since morphs have been out and about shows me that public nomads is a really bad idea.
It will cause more headaches then it would solve so until im convinced we no longer have to "train" our own candidates to fill the role ill never support the idea of public noms.
There is a higher role play standard demanded from this role.. its how i treat the faction and my members and im serious about it. It will not be compromised.
