Eh? I could just go with the "Says the Colonial" Comment, but:

How am I ruining other Peoples Fun if I am a Pirate? The highest Demand I've ever made for an Ore Miner was five Million Credits, and most Times they don't even pay this actual fair Amount. Hell, I even role play with Traders and mostly get a Comment in ooRP like "That was nice." or even "Thanks you role played". I am tired of everyone thinking every Pirate has the same Behavior.

Most People say exactly the same about Traders and Miners. Most Traders run silent, aren't able to talk, or start shooting you as you greet them. How come every Miner I see is Level 54? Because they immediately send the Money to their Bank Accounts to hide the Money and once they get into a Pirate that Demands seven Million Credits because they've got Ore they start crying that they don't have the Money.

Yet I don't look at Traders and see the same Behavior over and over again. You role play with me? I role play back. I always like to meet [Convoy], [USI] and other Traders, because they are different. They just treat you different.

Now honestly, wouldn't Mining and Trading boring without Pirates? I, as an ex-Hardcore-Trader, am saying that Trading would be boring. Totally boring and it would be boring for a Pirate to meet no Traders to pirate.

This thread makes me want to go play my liner and get pirated.

Even a billionmillionordie folk are quite bearable, as a change out of ordinary. Makes you value decent pirates a lot more.

Though, interesting how my view on piracy changed along with my view on trading. For two months since I found disco, I ran a freelance thingy (Albatross, then BWT) all across Sirius. Mainly because I needed money. Yeah, all fun and stuff, exploration and so on, but gets a bit boring after a while, as being a lone freelancer with some generic cargo doesn't offer much variety of RP. Pirates I viewed as an inevitable evil, dropped off the lanes and turned around at the sight of red contact ahead, if really caught, sighed and paid what's theirs.

Then I bought OSC liner. Something I really enjoy flying around. Makes way more sense to hire escorts, offers way more opportunities and ways to interact with lawfuls and unlawfuls alike. With an added benefit that after a few hours of having great time, paying an occasional escort, sponsoring a few pirates, arguing with angry Gaians, and generally meeting and talking to a hole lot of people, I still find myself a couple dozen millions richer then I started with.

So, yeah, pirates are people, too. Restricting them is bad.

Also, as someone having tried to RP a freelance escort pilot, I may say that a prospect of meeting an unreasonable pirate is one of the really few things that still make some miners/traders consider hiring one. Because meeting reasonable pirates are generally cheaper.

I agree with everything you have said.
No I started mining because of the high credit value. I did stop because of too many pirates that had no roleplay.
only once in dublin did I ever have any RP with a molly. We talked for over 15 min. to ahalf an hour.
Yes he got his demand but the role play was great.
When I am trading, there are good pirates and bad. I like the "Give me 10 mil' demand for a cargo worth 6 mil.
Now the good / enjoyable pirate I usually offer less then what ask and throw in a case of whiskey or tobacco etc. Many a time the pirate agrees to the term. I usually send them more credits after the encounter because I had fun or compliment them on their roleplay.

People will never be satisfied. As for the lolwut pirates, They always refuse to RP thus they kill me and I just start over in my trader.

The good ones I enjoy running into them.

You know liners pew 10millRdai gunboats, bombers?

I'll lean back and talk in my liner when the pirate acts like it.

You know... Problem are not the Miners. Problem are the Miners & Traders.

I flew around Dublin for a while on my Merc, and you know what was the most common reply I got to my attempts to Roleplay?
"// u merc id u cant pirat"
I dare say 90% of the Miners or Transports I ran to said this, either in Local or System. And from those, At least Half started flaming, insulting or Rule-Lawyering me either in System or PM after getting killed. I've got re-engaged by the same Angry Miners just too many times to count, and I've seen them breaking so many Rules I wont even bother mentioning.

So, If I don't see any hints of Roleplay from a Miner at the very beginning, I'll just treat it as a lolwut, even if it turns out to be Alt of an Admin.

You're Crying about loosing one third of your Profit to a Pirate, but what you're Not mentioning is that how much effort did you put in Roleplaying with that Pirate? Just because you can type in Local doesn't mean you should be treated as a 1337RP3r, so you can't expect a Pirate to sit and tell you fairy tales while you bash the Cruise button and try to run to closest Base.

Each Group have their own types of lolwuts, the Pirates who go "20milRdai" and the Traders who say "kill me i hav no ting 2 looze ))" But that doesn't mean a Pirate shouldn't be able to make a 50mils Demand If He has a Good InRP Reason to do so!

I actually charged a Trader 38millions once, while his Cargo was barely worth 3.5mils. You know why? Because I started my demand at 1 million, and told him I'll add a million to it for every time he tries to activate his Cruise. And he didn't say a single word until he went Boom, and then he started flaming me in PM. Go figure!

Meh, kill them and move on is what I say. There are too many hunters, mercs, funboats and destroyers to mess around with a trader or miner in that system that is shouting in sys chat or constantly running.

You know, if you kill a miner or trader, you can sell his floating cargo for a tidy profit.

One word back from them indicating that they will stick around or have a bit of fun and they typically won't even get a scratch from me... or many of the mollys infesting dublin.

most of my pirates have a preset demand (10mil or all cargo or somethin) just for these people. I'm not a very fast typer, and if you're mashing cruise, all you deserve to get is the pre-recorded 'die now' message.
