Overall, not a bad set of changes in my opinion, but we're already months and months past the deadline for such changes. In any case, changes were implemented a year ago for 4.86 that will shift the fastest routes from current jump hole shortcuts to trade lane routes instead. Vanilla story missions created several mega shortcuts that have continued to distort traffic patterns and penalize traders using the more rational trade lane routes, but almost all of those have been fixed for 4.86.

Quote:Maybe we ought to look at Liberty? Theres always action in Liberty.
because they use lanes in liberty. which is the point of this proposal.
Quote:In Bretonia, the Corsairs raided and fought the BAF.
problem straight away, Corsairs should be fighting the BPA not the BAF, at least according to lore.
Quote:the alliance between the Mollys and the BAF
is sketchy at best
Quote:the Corsairs raided less and less.
they are still in bretonia every other day, or should i say they are still in dublin every other day.
Quote:Then a war starts with Kusari to get the Brets fighting again but once again, it meant relying on one enemy.
see above, also did you forget all the hundreds of indie pirates?
Quote:I saw four military ships, Destroyers, Gunboats and Templers threaten two Legionaires in Bretonia last night
you point being? you may call this to attention when the ships in question were launched specifically to chase them, as i try to explain to people, if sombody is patrolling on thier cruiser, its unfortunate for anyone they happen to meet, however if there is a ping on skype about intruders in fighters and sombody logs in on their cap, THEN you can moan about it being daft and unfair.
Quote:when there were four capable opponents, a Hacker GB, a Hessian GB, a Barghest and a Praetorian appear.
what were all of the above doing working together anyway? this is what pirates dont seem to understand is that they have diplomacy too that extends beyond, "we kill BAF" these ships should have been killing each other and then the BAF would wait until the fight ended and give the survivors the option to leave in peace.
Quote:Sorry to say this but yes, the changes might alter things but frankly, it's the player base that will make the difference.
If the player base is sick of the unavoidable circumstances they are in then they will not bother, this is the problem with all inactive factions, their circumstances simply suck, so they just dont bother.

I know:( but i just felt that since its still not out, it could still be tweaked just a little, since its really needed:(

sweet, I suppose, i just hope the leeds JH in Magellan and manchester are gone.:)
Too many quotes, I believe ten is the limit of phpBB.
' Wrote:Solution, step by step:
0. move the Leeds jump hole back to it's vanilla position, next to Mactan (devs only)
1. make a Lane Hacker
2. ???
3. profit
4. ???
5. traders using Manchester
I already make a killing on my Lane Hacker by sitting near the current Leeds JH.
That said, I definitely approve of the idea. Means there'll only be one approach to the system to guard.

the mag and dub holes in leeds are hangovers from vanilla... they should be nerfed like the sig 13/berlin hole.
however, i think that they should remain in the system, just not where they are.
i have a corsair id'ed and tagged legionnaire, which i keep to assist peeps making new benitez characters. moving these ships through jumpgates is oorp and just asking for a npc-cap spawn. us pierats need the jumpholes to move around, and if they need to be moved slightly more out of the way, sobeit.
Actually the whole crippling of Bretonia's mega jumphole highways will encourage more gold hauling to Rheinland. It sucks to be the only person hauling for Rheinland, just because you like it there. >_>
About the "Corsairs being only in Dublin" - I have a Corsair that I usually travel a lot with. I visit Dublin, Leeds, Trafalgar and then head out via Cambridge. Even if I want interaction... There's noone to talk to, except those nice capital ship patrols that want my head (NPC ones).
Also... If Dublin isn't such a huge profit... Less people that F1 once someone screams "Pierat in xy" will visit it, less miners that never talk and just cruise the moment they see something on their 14K scanners. (I hope it'll work like that and not backfire somehow)
Also there should be a tea and crumpets trade route for some nice profit aswell! xD
Cutting the gold route at the Dublin or Manchester hole will make Leeds more or less a dead system, and will just cause traffic to be rerouted, mostly though the gate, some through the London hole. It will make gold a bit longer to run, but frankly, most the gold pirates are in California, on that last lane, nice and close to Detroit so any transport not paying feeds a junker transport or two.
Moving Chester makes sense. I'd say move it to the faaaar south of Dublin, clear of all the gold fields. I'm surprised that Newcastle doesn't get more traffic from smugglers crossing the Kusari/Bret lines, but I suppose the lack of frontline (player) troops is what's causing that. Might want to switch the patrols near that frontline to the Guard factions, so most players will get targeted, either by Brets or Kusari.

Yes please! This should definitely be fixed. Lawful traders, especially corporate ones, should not be using jump holes. Period. (Unless they are "lawful" within roleplay, such as Edinburgh->Tau-31) Jump holes should be dangerous deathtraps swarming with pirates to whom the jump hole is their only safe mode of transportation, akin to jumpgates for lawfuls.
Oh and if the holes are moved instead of removed, make sure the travel time is a LOT longer, or a lot more difficult, than using the lanes. The whole convenience thing of just click->F2->Tab to internet, just is not what this server is for.
