How so? There may be hitbox issues, but at least it's workable, unlike our previous model. The long-noser was our final variant. It's not a detailed model, and if it doesn't go through to Igiss I will definitely add more. There's also the Outcast Dreadnouights in there, but that design has been changed since. (That's actually what I'm doing today, rebuilding that from the ground up:()

*sudden upsurge of HF/AW/Helghast recruits and independant Hacker/Rogue/Outcast characters*

with all these new ships coming out it reminds me of my idea of having faction specific ships. remember? where a faction could buy ship plans and have their own custom ship that would be very hard for others to have without permission.

i still love that idea and this ship would fit perfectly into it

Indeed indeed...

All clans here have a veritable RP, bound with the NPCs. So even after the clan is gone (not soon for sure) Another can take the old ships over

Nah, I think we're too small to be thinking about clan-specific ships. That's good for something like EvE, in all its uber-splendor, but Freelancer is a small thing. There'd only be a few of each type, and if the faction leader controlls his battleships (as he bloody well should) some of the less well-connected players may never even see one, much less get to handle them. The Spyglass is rare anyways, it doesn't even apply to this ship.

well the spyglass is basically grandfathered into my idea already as it's practically an HF ship. that's what started my idea anyway, was giving the other successful factions (Phantoms for example) their own ship located in their own ship factory in their own system. that was my idea in general terms, it worked like a tech tree. the faction first bought a system, then bought a ship yard, then bought ship plans of whatever sort.

the amount of money needed for that would limit it's use so we didn't have every new faction wanting new stuff that would require a new version of Disco.

Pretty much, but not too many HF use it now anyway because it's not a particularly good flier; I hope this model changes it. People, if they really care, will RP for it.

The Phantoms are an exception, and do deserve their own Battleship. (I might actually be in to design one; I've thought about it for some time).

Technically any Outcast/LF/Rogue tagge players can get it even without being in AW/HF/Helghast.. Epy forgot that small tidbit.

well the whole Vespucci policy of "you enter, you die" would make me hesitate to enter that's for sure.

but yes i flew the spyglass in openSP and it was a gorgeous ship but it seemed about 60 miles too long :)

Yes, Dabbo, that too...

The problem is that the rear fourth of the ship's hitbox is so ungodly wide, it's not asteroid feasible, like the Lib Dreddy or the Osiris.
