If you get some .50 Cal Armor Piercing bullets, Guns +90 skill, AM-Rifle with a Sneak attack it should instakill Death Claws. Try to aim for the head, it usually gives you a solid kill. There is only one Deathclaw I know off that can survive that and its the Legendary Deathclaw.
If you take the Hand Loader perk you get access to craft some custom damage-boosting ammo types for most guns, AM rifle's .50 included. You can actually one-shot the Legendary Deathclaw with that on a Sneak Attack Critical if you've the Better Criticals perk. There's literally nothing the AM rifle can't handle in one shot under the right circumstances, but the damn ammo for it is so rare and heavy it's like far easier to use the Sniper Rifle or Gobi Campaign Scout Rifle instead. You can craft custom ammo that comes with x 1.5 or so damage for that one too iirc once you've the perk. The AM is pure <3, though it's sortaaa... impractical after a while. And its AP cost in VATS makes me Q_Q

It' in a place called Dead Wind Cavern. There's actually a quest that sends you out to kill a bunch of legendary critters, that DClaw's one of them. Can rip through your DT and kill you in one swipe 'less if you've a ton of HP or tackling it melee or unarmed and can block.
It feels much better this way. No more uberlol snipe action.

In the end every weapon group seems to have something which is a little too powerful, a situation which I feel detracts somewhat from the overall quality of the game. I understand the appeal to a wider audience of throwing in something like the AM Rifle, uber gauss, thermic lance (trololo, lord that thing is silly) and so on... But running around one shotting everything without thought or effort kinda slows the game down for me some.
Just a preference thing. I get more of a kick ducking behind a boulder reloading 'ol Lucky against a mob of NCR pukes (HAIL CAESAR) than casually popping them all with pushy.
On the note of the ultimate kill weapon though. Heh. Lily in your group. Chinese stealth armor. Stealth boy. Silenced 12mm or sniper rifle. pop pop pop pop all day.
Still! In the end its not like they're forcing the one shot one kill weapons on me. So I can still merrily dig running around with my laser rifle or smexy revolver all day and enjoy the extra challenge.
Still need to try the grenade launchers.
Also! Lordy. VATS is a death sentence. Now that you don't enjoy the LOLINVULNERABLE edge of the old FO game you sort of sit there, watching an overly long vats animation, complete with ghouls raping you sideways in the background, with something akin to horror.
I see your point there Dusty but I don't know if I gimped my character or not.
But my Sneak/Sniper character really was a glass-cannon. He could one-shot or almost one shot many things but it required that I was positioned well and really played stealthy. I make one mistake, miss that head-shot and get attacked, I usually end up dying. So to me that's challenge. And also I just can't get enough of Snipers.

It's different for each casino.
Vikki and Vance, if you reopen it is like less than 10,000 in winnings. The Atomic Wrangler is a little more than that, Gommorah is a little more than that, The Tops is a little more than that and Ultra Luxe has the highest winnings before you get kicked out.
All they do is stop you from gambling, but it's awesome. High luck helps.
