// Good day Folks.. Yes i'm new to freelancer. Yes i probably should join an existing player faction first.. But in the fast few days of playing freelancer i've experienced a few things that i did not like ..
a) There are just too many military or paramilitary factions already .. In what kind of real universe you would find more mercenary, pirate and other "fighting" factions than companies?
d) 9 out of 10 Times i see a trading vessel, its the size of a Train. There's only a minimum of commercial traffic with smaller crafts. Roleplaywise it should be different in my opinion.
e) 9 out of 10 times the pilot that trading vessel is a lone traveler.. Whats the point of playing on a roleplay server when you're flying alone anyways?
f) Rheinland is fewly populated, combared to other house sectors (especially Bretonia and Liberty) .. Rheinland's roleplay on the form hinks behind aswell..
--
So.. thats what me led to the point not to join any faction at the moment but to think about a concept that might work against the current metagaming and put my efforts in this instead.
So this should be a Rheinlandish Company having pro rheinlandish comany policies.. I've looked through Discovery Wiki for something that seperates Rheinland from the other factions .. and i've found something interesting... Transport vessels classified as "armored Transports"..
Thats the general idea what i came up with.. This combines increasing activity in Rheinland, adding smaller commercial crafts to daily traffic .. increasing fun by flying in convoys and of course.. roleplaying.
It sure still needs a lot to be done, espcially Roleplay stuff, writing background story, general terms and conditions.. Rules of engagements, Company Chain of Command, signing contracts and earning licences.. etc..
I just liked to know if that idea would be accepted by the playerbase.. Any help is appreciated.
With the Pirates becoming more and more organised, hauling valuable cargo through Sirius Sector has become very risky in the past few years. The sightings of Pirate Capital-Ships in the border systems shows us that the time, where the bigger transport and freight trains were save are over. New concepts have to be found to ensure the safety of your cargo, and we're glad to deliver you such a concept.
S.A.F.E. Spezialtransporte GmbH has developed NEW and SAVE way to ensure your cargo will reach it's destination while minizing the financial risk for you loosing a big amount of goods by pirated heavy transport vessels. All that without the expenditure of hiring escorts capable to repel an attack of pirate Capital-Ships.
How does it work?. S.A.F.E Spezialtransporte GmbH uses a secure method of splitting your cargo on several small and agile "Ragnar" armored Transport class ships , forming a convoy fast enough to easily outmaneuver any pirate capital ships it may encounter, yet packing enough combined firepower from the armored Transport and escort fighter vessels to scare off any smaller pirate vessels.
For Example: Let's say you have to deliver 3.000 units of precious and/or classified cargo you don't want to loose to some pesky pirates. S.A.F.E Spezialtransporte GmbH would split your load on 5 Ragnar Class Armored Transport vessels and add a group of escort fighters on top of it. To ensure maximum safety of your establishment, S.A.F.E Spezialtransporte GmbH convoys travel off the beaten tracks when flying through sectors not secured by house factions.
The most interesting fact: Even if the rare situation occurs, and one of our transports should be lost during an attempt to steal your cargo, you wouldn't loose all your cargo, but only a fraction, and the value of the lost cargo would be refunded to your company by S.A.F.E Spezialtransporte GmbH.
Company Information Sheet Company: S.A.F.E. Spezialtransporte GmbH Based in: Planet Nuremburg / Munich System
Quote: I. S.A.F.E Spezialtransporte GmbH will not haul illegal or restricted cargo without owning proper transport licences.
IIa. S.A.F.E Spezialtransporte GmbH will not sign contracts with criminal organisations or individuals listened in criminal databases of any house faction friendly or neutral to Rheinland Government.
IIb. With S.A.F.E Spezialtransporte GmbH being a parnter company of Republican Shipping, we currently are not allowed to sign contracts with organisations or invdividuals listened as "unfriendly" or "at war" in the republican shipping reputation sheets you can find here
III. S.A.F.E Spezialtransporte GmbH will not accept contracts where the contract-accomplishment would require breaking the applicable law of house factions when passing their respective sectors.
IV. S.A.F.E Spezialtransporte GmbH will not haul freight into Libertonian or Gallic territory.
IV. When being attacked, S.A.F.E Spezialtransporte GmbH convoys will not negotiate over any kind of extortionate robbery unless our customers cleary give us permission to to so. The permission to negotiate, and the highest amount of Credits to be used for such attemts, must be pointed out during contract negotiations. The Credits used for negotiations under the event of an extortionate robbery must be paid in advance, and will returned if such events will not take place.
VIa. The cost of the transportation depends on many factors such as ship deployment and transportation distance, and is therefore to be negotiated during contract negotiations. you can find an cost informations sheet, aswell as a calculator here.
Note: A minimum of 2 escort ships, and a cargohold of 1800 Units is to be deployed. A extra fee may be demanded for systems with very hostile environment
VII. Unless otherwise negotiated, you agree to the set standard timeframe of 10 days to get the transport accomplished by S.A.F.E Spezialtranporte GmbH . The set timeframe starts when the conctract is concluded. Exceeding the 10 day timeframe, you will receive an abatement of 10% for every day and may cancel the contract for free.
VIII. With contract conclusion, you agree to general fine of 1.000.000 Credits for canceling the contract before the negotiated timeframe passed.
Who are you and why the hell did you not come to Disco sooner? The idea of splitting the cargo into smaller vessels and then having them + escorts is brilliant.
I wish you good luck.
And, there has to be a payout of sorts for your guys. How do you factor your paycheck compared to your employers?
Generally, your idea is nice and would be great if come real. Problem is that only few people here are trading because they want RP traders. Most people are trading just because they need money for another ships, and trading itself is usually boring for them so they want to earn needed money as soon as possible. And that is the reason why they fly only biggest trains. Bigger ship=bigger profit=shorter time spent by trading. And after playerbases were added to the game, this apply to them too. Building and supplying base need 5k ships or lot of people.
So good luck, but don´t be much disappointed when you fail. But then, you can try factions that often make convoys and it´s very fun what I saw - IMG or Bowex.

Increased securty of course comes with its price.. still need to work out a formular but i thought about something like this.
TV = Transport Vessels (maximum Cargo load 600)
EV = Escort Vessels (VHF's .. Minimum of 2 to be deployed)
SV = Scout Vessels (LF's .. scouting ahead .. Minimum of 0 to be deployed)
SS = Secured System (Owned and Cotrolled by House Factions)
US = Unsecured System (not owned and controlled by House factions)
(X amount of Credits per TV + X amount of Credits per EV + X amount of Credits per SV)
multipiled by
( X amount of Credits per SS + X amount of Credits per US)
Some of the profit goes to the company, the rest is split up to the pilots.
That way... The client himself can kind of control how high he want the security to be? least security with fully loaded ragnars and only 2 escorts.. or increased security by even more ragnars and more escorts..

No wonder they don't want to RP Traders when they always fly alone, this concept may convince some to do so .. And since this should be a RP Company.. i more likely looking to get contracts and missions from the Roleplay factions and governments to create kind of events out of it...This should primary attract people who are playing this game for role play issues, and not the goals you've mentioned.
It's a good idea, but to get convoys you will need to have more players join you right from the start, and they'll all need to be online at the same time. If you can get it started, it should work well, but it's that first step that will be hard.
Thats the neat thing about Ragnars and VHF's their cost probably wont extend 5.000.000 credits fully equippment can easly be purchased with any secondary character. So i might catch a few people seeking some alternatives to their main characters. But you're right, i need the Pilots for it .. and especially i need them online at the same time..i thought of some kind of RP mission shedule where Jobs would be posted. (probably some pirates might even successfully virus that RP mission shedule to get some nasty information and a huge pirate raid would wait for the convoy in one of the sectors it passes? xD)
But first of all.. i would need to complete the concept .. recruiting for a concept not finished, wouldn't be right. except someone what to help me with the concept.. i'd look forward to get some help and partners for it.
' Wrote:What's wrong with the Urus battletransport? Seems to me that stuff would be safer on that than on a bunch of smaller transports...
lower max. Thrust speed .. wouldnt be able to outmanuver gunboats / cruisers when cruise disrupted. but for inner House system.. it might be an addition to the fleet getting 1 or 2 of it.

This is a nice concept, yes, but I'm dubious as to how viable it is. Bowex has the Clydesdale Brigade, which for a long time, was reknown as the freighter outfit. No-one else could be bothered with them. Despite this, the Brigade was mainly good as a novelty or for having a laugh between serious trading. It would be incredibly hard to build a faction around that gimmick.
Cargo splitting is a neat idea, but you'll be hard pressed to find seven players (5 Ragnars and 2 escorts) who're willing to bust their guts to shift 3,000 units of cargo - roleplay or no. What you're more likely to find is 7 people who're willing to fly 7 Uruz battletransports, and shift 28,000 units of cargo. Again, Bowex - convoys are fun, and we'll shift 10 Shires at a time, on occasions.
Nice idea, but really not practical in realistic terms.
I would advise to join either ALG or RepEx and get those guys to do convoys.
They already have playerbase and you might just be the new guy who gives a second wind to a faction.
