Ok this is one heck of a problem. I was running 4.83 on Windows Vista just fine yesterday. I decided to try the new beta and loaded it as usual and tried to play it. The beta crashed my system everytime and I only got it to run once. I decided to go back to 4.83 and reloaded it with the Mod manager. Now my ships equipment have reset to nothing and I seem to be missing stations, jumpholes, and even a few systems. Reloading everything from scratch doesn't help. I have exausted my computer knowledge and am quickly running out of patience. Please help me. Thanks

First I assume you are running everything with the "run as administrator" option as it is Vista. If so, I think nothing but a complete wipe of all Freelancer related files and clean installs of all of it is your only option. By complete wipe I mean dont use Windows uninstall utility, actually go and delete all files and folders associated with Freelancer. You got some "sirius" corruption goin on there.

Huh, I just read that other post. I was not aware of this issue. I have only installed the Beta 4.84 on XP computer and had no problems. Glad I read all this before I installed it on my Vista computer. Sounds like a Vista bug to me, I know that alot of programs that werent designed for use with Vista wont uninstall correctly and leave fragments behind (*cough* McAfee) and then make it damn near impossible to install updated versions of the same program. Vista aint ready, sp1 should be coming out soon.

As of yet all of my Vista problems have been minor and correctable and I've had for 5 months now.

Well what I would suggest is backing up all your accounts by sending them to someone you trust. wiping all your FL related files FLMM/FL folder and files/FAM and reinstall it all. Unselie couldnt even log on his accounts, but I was able to just fine, so I don't think player files are being corrupted just something goes horribly wrong when the beta is tried on vista. What I think is Vista may somehow be able to alter files when you d/l them and it might be filtering out what it sees as harmful material.

VISTA!...SIT!!
VISTA!...ROLL OVER!!!
VISTA!...PLAY DEAD!!!!

Today I made Vista my B***h. I fixed the problem by changing the install directories from where I was putting then normally. Then I used a registry editor/cleaner to clear out any FL stuff (said it didn't find any but deleted 3 files) then finally I used a copy of the 4.83 mod pre-unzipped I copied from my XP machine before it blew up. (I tried to revive my old Xp machine but it really blew up, scorched the motherboard and fried the hard drive. Very neat.) All my stuff seems to be back to normal. If you guys need copies of my files I'll be more then happy to send them. Was about to take a mace to the damn thing.
