Just pointing that out.

Query, will we be seeing these ships in Gallia? The GRN's certainly done enough to draw the Zoners' ire by now, though most would be loathe to act even in the face of open aggression (or perhaps because of it).

Err...we'll fix the NTF:)

As for Gallia, we won't enter there at all. Any Zoners wishing to tread into Gallic space will have to do it on his or her own. We may go escort to highly secure Council bases, but the whole Gallic Border Worlds are a mess really so you will most likely not be seeing us there.

' Wrote:There are a lot more ships you could add; if you're interested in a list, I'll slap one together, but I'm guessing you've picked what you did for coherence.

I would still suggest adding the Virage to the lowest rank, since it *is* explicitly said to be built by Zoners.

Err...Virage is already there?

Thing is, we don't want too many ships. Imagine having a squadron with one wasupu, one virage, one eagle, one ravents talon, it just looks wierd really. I'll discuss with Cross about it since we both designed the ZDF together.

' Wrote:Some comments:
  • I like very much how this faction is structured - it's similar to the GMG but it has an Admiral above the commander rank.
  • Assignments to different zones and captains of stations, capital ships, and planets... good thinking!
  • Your objectives are clearly defined.
  • The naming convention is a little whacky, with the faction tag, surnames, division codes and designations of craft types. But that is just my opinion.
  • You forgot the Falcon! And Kingfisher! D:
  • I love the medal system, this was very well thought out and organized.
I told myself I'd avoid Zoner factions like the plague, but I might be interested in joining up if you are looking for pilots.

Edit: Edited:P

Yeah most of the Medals were made by Lieutenant, I got the idea from somewhere but I can't remember where....anyway.

' Wrote:The key to a successful Zoner force is to play it small. Humble beginings.
I have seen quite a lot of Zoner military factions in the past try and fail because they wanted to be supercool, ultra badass, and everything that Zoners are not.
If you focus all of your attention on Freeport security, appreciate fighters above capital ships, and stick to defense before offense, you will make it farther than most.

One bit of criticism I have is with the naming convention for ships -- they are extremely convoluted for a video game. Keep it as simple as possible.
Really, you don't need that. Particularly because it will make it easier for your enemies to determine your ship class during dogfights.
The extra "S" isn't neccessary.
The "101st" at the end isn't needed either. Yes I understand it's cool but you want your call sign to be easy to read and when you have so much "stuff" in there, it's a little annoying. I remember that the Consortium got a lot of heat when we were inventing our naming structure (this was before I joined). I'm rather glad we use what we have today, because the "(]c[)" symbol is already difficult enough for some people to read/type.

Cross will fix the Naming convention in a while, I did talk to him about all the dashes so yeah. We might leave the Squadron tag on though, mainly because each squadron will have different objectives and all so people know what their supposed to be doing and stuff. I understand this can be done through group chat in game so we might or might not change it. Squadron system will still apply though.

Anyways thanks for the feedback.

Proofread your document.

It has minor spelling errors where the person typing it up has typed too fast and not ordered the letters in a word correctly, as well as absent connecting words.

Apart from that, all good. (Lindburger, or someone else, invite me into the ZDF chat for a bit so I can talk some more.)

Anything I say is not intended as offensive, and to try and deliberately misinterpret it as such would be an attempt at trolling via misrepresentation.

It's not a conspiracy, it's localised bias. They're not intelligent enough to form a conspiracy.

@ Doc & Thexare

I'll look into more ships. To be honest I selected the ones I did for uniformity reasons. However, this is a game and the more ship choices players have the happier they are. So Thexare if you want to send that list I would love to have it.

@ Death's Overture

Thank you for the positive feedback. The naming concention was indeed whacky and has been changed. We removed the ship type designations and squadrons. While I'd love to take credit for the medal system I won't. I had some input into it but Marcus made a few of them and Izii made almost the entire list. There are some PvP oriented ones but mainly they are RP oriented, as we really want RP to be the focus.

@ Quorg

I too was hesitant but I needed something more than just my Zoner trader. We attempted to form this faction in a way that the Zoner playerbase could participate in it (we do need pilots!) and have some say in its role. No point in RP'n a Zoner militia if the Zoner players don't want to have anything to do with you, right?

@ Sovereign

NTF is a subgroup of the ZDF, you won't see us using a tag to show any difference from the main ZDF body. Also won't see us until we fill out, which won't happen until the other areas fill out. I do see your point however and we will work on a new name. Any suggestions?

@ n00b

Yes, I am horrible at typing and it wasn't fully proofread. It will however be proofed multiply times if we ever decide to apply for official status. However, right now that is not a goal of ours. We are official enough having ZTC, OSI, TAZ, and a number of indie Zoner backing us. I would prefer we concentrate more on the RP of the faction than worring with becoming official.

About entering GRN, while this would indeed provide a strong area for us to RP in, we are currently not entering it. This can change however and we will contact the GRN if it does.

The whole ZDF concept is more as a defensive mechanism more than offense. The Zoners aren't about offense but they are more than willing to defend as needed....as they should. This may provide some structure to that end.
On that note, ZDF wouldn't enter Gallia as aggressors. They WOULD enter as escorts for traders as the Council has many products Zoners would like to purchase and may even keep the GRN from leaving into Orkney. The Council is the first line of defense. If the GRN were to get through, all of Sirius could be in trouble.

One more ship suggestion, the Waran Bomber as it's for sale at Trafalgar in New London and is available to anyone who wants it. It's kinda ugly but it's pretty tough IMO.

Erm, so which is it? Will you escort traders in Gallia or not?

Sorry for the confusion, were still debating that actually due to recent Zoner developments and all, we'll get back to you shortly.
