MEMBERS WITH A PRINTER MUST PRINT THEM OFF AND HAVE THEM HANDY.
2. BAF members are to always RP in system chat, and unless impractical, in Group Chat.
3. BAF members are always to obey their superior officers; nothing else makes sense in-RP. If you are told to get a fighter or bomber, get that. Junior officers will obey senior officers target assignments in combat. Disobedience also loses battles.
4. Combat/Assistance Priorities are as follows
Priority 1 : Always, without delay, assist other BAF, BPA, and other allies in combat who require assistance, but do not overkill, either. Obviously RL takes precedence, but advise others when it does.
Priority 2 : Stop Pirates from pirating in Bretonian space.
Priority 3 : Stop Smuggling, particularly in Leeds (be mindful of ID restrictions in other systems)
Priority 4 : Combat Training in Salisbury, or patrol home systems, or help new players with rep, as needed.
5. Treat other players with courtesy and respect.
6. BAF members with traders are strongly encouraged to support the faction financially. Bretonian Corporation membership encouraged.
7. When only Ensigns are present online, a more senior member (incl Lt's) in another character must change to BAF to give them guidance. Preferably, at least one Lt Commander or higher rank will be on to provide command.
8. BAF members above the rank of Lieutenant are to enforce these rules. Report problem players breaking these rules or the server rules to me.
9. A BAF member who is sanctioned by the Admins may be expelled from the faction. This will obviously depend on the severity of the offense..
10. Bretonian ships and gear only. Codenamed Weapons Allowed. Anything larger than a Challenger requires clearance from command, and the rank of lieutenant commander
11. Capital Ships must only be used in combat if the enemy fleet contains equivalent strength of capital ships. Balance as well as possible. A capital ship may take on a non-combat Command role, but only if it is far from the battle. Admirals shall also enforce this rule withe the reserve Fleets (Indys), with the assistance of BRF and RFA.
The Bretonian/Kusari Rules of Engagement, produced in an attempt to get more fairplay out there.
Do I REALLY have to point out the the spirit of those guidelines should and do apply to any "enemy", anywhere?
THE ABOVE GUIDELINES ARE HOW I EXPECT YOU TO ACT. I AM NOT GOING TO WASTE MY TIME EMPHASIZING THESE CONCEPTS. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO.
WHAT I AM GOING TO DO IS SEPARATE THE WHEAT FROM THE CHAFF.
1. Recruitment is now closed until we sort out all our new blood.
2. WITH THE HELP OF BAF MEMBERS AND OTHER PLAYERS (KUSARI, MOLLYS, WHATEVER) I WILL MAKE A "NAUGHTY" LIST; THOSE BAF MEMBERS WHO DON'T SEEM TO "GET IT".
3. In two weeks time if no improvement is made I will remove some people from the faction. I have four (4) names on the list now. Will that list grow, or shrink? It is up to you.
I am interested in power over Independants only in the sense and to the extent that some beautiful day I will not have to have power over independants.
If you understand that last sentence, you understand precisely my policy about Independants. If you did not understand it, try again.
The Official Faction rights give me limited power over Indys. And frankly, many of you don't need me to tell you what to do anyway. You are fine.
Lets look at how I have, so far, tried to exercise that limited power to do some good.
(The only major issue I have with Indys is the ones that overuse their capital ships. By and large, another Templar or Challenger here or there does not change much.)
CLEARLY, the problem, however, remains.
WHAT AM I GOING TO DO ABOUT IT?
I AM ASKING EVERY PLAYER WHO INTERACTS WITH BAF FACTION MEMBERS AND INDYS TO PM ME THE NAMES OF THOSE MORE PROBLEMATIC PLAYERS.
INDEPENDANTS WHO GET REPORTED TO ME, WE WILL WATCH VERY CLOSELY. IF THEY DO NOT CHANGE THEIR BEHAVIOUR WE WILL USE THIS:
Quote:RIGHT 2) Official factions have authority over players of the same NPC affiliation, as long as RP justification is provided. This authority applies in forums and in-game, and applies to player faction diplomacy, and strategic and tactical direction. However, exercise of that authority, on the forums and in game, is restricted to official faction members with the rank of the official faction leader and one rank below him/her. The authority may be exercised through the use of in-game in-RP orders, which, if not obeyed, can result in in-game in-RP consequences (arrest, court martial, and even "lethal" force in extreme circumstances). Official Factions cannot, under any cicrumstances, require another player to follow non-canon RP if that player doesn't want to.
THEN, IF THAT DOESN'T WORK, THIS:
Quote:RIGHT 5) Official factions may request that the reputation of a player's ship be changed to hostile with respect to their NPC faction.
I have read the above thoroughly, and understand both it and the circumstances which resulted in it - I would also like to extend apologies for participating in said event.
Dieter. About booting indies who don't conform to the official guild's policies? We tried that with IMG. We couldn't as long as they do not overstep the bounds of their ID's.
Let me know if/when that policy changes so we can clean up IMG as well. Until then you're just going to end up disappointed when trying to guide indies who really don't -want- to be guided, or have their own ideas what it means to be Armed Forces.
Best solution? Park a few KNF bombers in Leeds, or a Blarghest squad on Arranmore. Gank unruly caps whenever they annoy you with a bomberswarm. They'll last 5 seconds.

Confirming that I've read and understood everything posted. Here's hoping my name won't end up on your list.
One quick question: what if a superior officer orders you to join an unbalanced (in our favour) fight? I assume that fair play beats role play, but I just want to confirm it. Oh, and before anyone gets the wrong idea, this hasn't happened to me and shouldn't ever happen, I'm just overthinking things.
