' Wrote:I don't think it will be replacing supertransports, at least as long as the Barge is so utterly sluggish (it's how it should be, don't change that too).
Someone who exposes his Barge to 2 bombers deserves his nifty ship to be torn to pieces.
The model looks good Jinx, but I'm not sure about the projections on the back. Putting gb turrets might help but as it is now the ship is self has a length greater than the range of it's turrets. It may need it's own class of turret if you really want it to be able to defend itself. Either way I still think anyone who tries to fly one unescorted is a fool.
The biggest problem I see with it now is the roll. I understand that it's supposed to be hard to fly but a light fighter should not be able to make a ship that massive flip completely over. If that remains, the defense won't matter. You can prevent it from going anywhere just by spinning it. You can even stop it from docking quite easily. We even had a single freighter accidentally cause the destruction of ours by ramming it in a minefield.

Indestructible but immobile.
Once you get caught by hostiles you can have as much amor as you like, with 25m/s at max + getting rammed periodically, you will be rendered practically immobile.
And you can't trade in a ship that doesnt move, ye?
About the topic.
I like the supposed model way more than the current one, also the idea of an animated ship on disco is great.

You ram, you lose.
This won't really solve the problem. It may solve some of it. It won't stop NPC's from flipping it all over the place. You also don't have to ram it. Just do a very close fly by and you can set it way off course. I was flying our barge trying to get through a gate when an NPC sent me in the opposite direction traveling at more than twice the max speed for a barge. That shouldn't happen.
No offense intended (I love your models, I'm not trying to tell you off or anything.), but so many of your ships look like zoner ships.. even the new LABC replace to a certen extent. It isn't the shape you use or anything like that,, it is the textures. You hardly ever use vanilla textures.. even on the LABC you used a new flatter texture.. dark grey and mat light grey, both player made textures. and your colors are always dark and dull.
That's not a bad thing, but, I associate a lot of the dark grey textures and non-complex texture patterns to be zoner colors. Kusari has their gold, bretonia has a tannish orange with yellow splotched in, rheiland is green, liberty is light grey/blue, OC is light grey, sair is a medium tan, and zoners at that dull mat grey on grey color.
When most of your ships have a dark grey mat on light grey color seem, they will look very zonerish.
i use 99.9% vanilla textures - unchanged vanilla textures ( so unlike Dooms gallia skins ) - a few details ( like caps, heatsinks, details ) are custom made.
what you call "flatter, greyish" is the liberty liner skin btw. used for civilian hulls, the darker skins are usually detail platings of factions ( vanilla, too )
you d be right to say that i tend to use a minimalist approach on large areas of hull instead of a patchwork approach - and i pronounce details only where i really meshed them.
