I disagree the 2000 of any kind of ore are worth around 20 mill, if the
ship is full of codes then the pirate can also demand 20 mill....
The whole understanding that "good" pirates should take small taxes in RP is one moot point..
Admittedly, I didn't even think of Ore.
But for any station bought items, my words remain very close to, if not the truth.
And this brings us back to the point of Roleplay vs Gameplay.
Do we treat things as they would really happen to benefit the roleplay?
Or do we treat things as if there's other players behind those characters?
It's probably not a discussion that needs discussing, given it's been done to death before.
However, I'm not entirely convinced that this faction, or perhaps just members within, are doing it for the roleplay immersion.

You demanded IC to pay you ~150Ms for that Mostodon. Who's demanding now, ech?!
A Mastodon costs 150mil, now add the commodities that were lost and a compensation because the Mastodon's crew was in lethal danger. In-RP it's not that much, right?
As for the 6mil taxation in the 2k transport, in-RP it isn't something extreme because the pirate doesn't calculate the profits and says: "I will get your profits" (which of course are less than 6mil), but he wants to have much more money than that.
But... we all know that most pirates make reasonable demands because this is a game and we don't want to ruin the other guy who spends much time trading in order to make some money.
Look, Im only going to say this once. Demanding 6 million was not sanctioned by the Leader of the operation at that time(twas me) nor did he know that it was a zoner affiliated faction.
Now that thats dealt with, Everyone who does not need to be spamming this thread...get out?
kthnxbai.
we usualy ask for small taxes depending on what the trader is carrying. in the 6mordai case, I was busy talking with a fighter that drifted away from the lane so i didnt know what they where doing.
only other time we dont ask for a small profit is if the ship is a hege with a high amount of gold ore. in that case the tax is a bit larger due to his large profit margin.
Power does not corrupt. Fear corrupts... perhaps the fear of a loss of power.
Silently docking on a freeport while the 'owning' pirate faction of a system is asking you questions usually isn't a bright idea, just sayin'. Better move Unioners to hostile on your diplomacy chart for now.

Could you go more into detail of what happened? I wouldn't consider making an entire faction hostile to us if I didn't know what happened.
Seems like loose pirate faction, free to do anything, yet with 7 kraken sabres? right? no? No krakens, well then good.
But I don't care much. Actually it would be fun to have atleast one group like this which woudn't be piece of crap or die off fast like (Cartel, VR- and similiar ones)
