Which you should never do when pirating to avoid any kind of scams.

When I'm pirating in a LF/VHF/Bomber, and my target decides to open trade window to pay the negotiated sum, I engage cruise engines, and -then- accept the transfer. I move around him in cruise, so if he engages his, he'll never be able to escape.

Used to be a time when the transfer window was the only way to pass money to someone else. The tactic is a very old one, old as this game, most of us vets expect this tactic and know how to deal with this.

Well they tried all. The money thing, I never give accept first and I check the sum before giving accept, I have disabled all sounds of the game they are quite annoying for me, I cannot see how some will dock at the line, I can ram him or shoot the line before he moves a meter in order to dock, same with the cruising and cds. In this cases I just give them fast second chance with doubled demand.... if not just shoot them and take the loot, the tip is to use P-Transp no need of taking credits... I take cargo.

It's not as if the trade window is completely opaque. You can see through it to the poor transport you're pirating. Also, keep your speakers turned up. If you hear cruise engines start to whine, close that window and CD!

Well I dunno about anyone else but when I'm fleeing a battle of any sort I rarely use cruise until I'm clear. Too easy to get chucked back in by a single CD with weapons offline. May as well just surrender at that point.

I prefer to keep my weapons online as long as possible. If you have to go down, go down in a hail of gunfire.

' Wrote:I know this is a common tactic to get away from pirates. I don't us it myself, but have heard many folks doing it. It happened to me last night. Some guy ran during a transfer when I was trying to pirate him. Fortunately, I've learned to watch for this. He didn't get far.

This is the last straw. I will give no mercy to any trader who does this. I will distroy your ship, cargo, and take your money as well. I don't care how loud you scream. You will not leave that system with your ship intact.

On that note, save time and hassle by learning/using the server commands and/or drop your cargo. If you only use the transfer screen, DON'T RUN

Yes that's annoying. Something worse is when they got you in a trade window and their "friend" shows up shooting you while you've got the window open. Make sure none of their friends are around before accepting the window. They start shooting you then take the trader out. I've noticed some of them will try to keep you in the window while they call for help.

Or they're locked onto the trade lane while you're gullible to accept the window transfer. Keep an eye on the lane or take their shields down till they exit the lane. Better yet don't accept the trade window until they are out of the lane.

' Wrote:Not any moreso then capships docking on stations half their size.

Can't this be solved by treating the smaller stations as "docking rings" instead of "mooring fixtures"?

' Wrote:I know a worse trick, and I'm in the mood to share.
Open trade window. Offer the demanded credits, and wait for the pirate to accept. Close the trade window.

If the pirate doesn't have sound on and doesn't know the exact amount of creds he has, he have no way to find out that he was tricked. I know it's risky, but it worked for me before.

That post also serves a reminder to pirates: Never accept the trade first if you prefer to listen to music instead of the hum of your engines.

Solution to this is never click accept until you see the trader has clicked accept first and you see the green "Accepted" on their side of the window. There is also a timer on the trade window. So if the window goes away before they've accepted and you've accepted then you know the guy is wasting your time.
