It should show up as:

Turret View Test
192.168.1.100
Password = "turrettime"

Startup is in Penn, but with 1.8 billion credits and friendly to all factions. That should be enough for testers to fit out any ship they desire.

EDIT: I would be interested in someone setting up a European timezone (and ping) server to test it as well. I am sure you guys in the northern hemisphere dont want to be testing with the equivalent of our ANZLAG!

Unless you make sure your router forwards incoming data on port 2302 to the local side IP 192.168.1.100 from the wan side, and that you tell people your wan side IP (the IP your router has on the internet), you aren't going to see anyone except yourself connect to your server.

The 192.168.1.100 IP you listed is in the non routable Class C network range. It is not visible on the internet.

To find the IP address you need to give people, you can open a browser on the machine running your server, and go to www.whatismyip.com. That IP address this site will show you, is the ip address people should add to a -s parameter in their shortcut, and as said, you need to make sure your router forwards incoming UDP traffic on port 2302 to the 192.168.1.100 address your server is having on the LAN side. You can also place that IP address in the routers Demilitarized Zone, but unless you have a local firewall properly configured on the server, its not recommendable.

Lesson in server setup duly noted, IP address edited.

I am very interested in doing anything to help this mod get in the game, so I am interested in helping to test, I have downloaded the mod from megaupload, but when I try to run the application, it says
"This application has failed to start because the commom dll was not found, this error may be fixed by reinstalling" Then an error msg comes up saying freelancer has stoped working, even when it is not playing!
Redownloading didnt help

So if you could tell me how to fix this that would be nice, thanks.

Also thanks to Jinx, who explained to me that capships could not have the logical powercore levels relating to fighters/bombers/transports - and hence weapon efficiency, which means no draining other caps with their pulses - because it was feared it would make them too weak.
So prehaps we could use this to at least partially solve 2 problems in one stroke, add the turret steering to power up caps.
Reduce their powercore (and weapon power requirements) to the logical level (they are about 5x as high as makes sense currently) to power down caps.

Of course I doubt these will balance each other out perfectly, and additional balancing will probs be needed to reduce cap power if the turret steering is introduced, but would help? Aswell as getting rid of the powercore irregularity.

I like this idea, caps are far to easy right now.

Still, I have a question.

Do it will alow capital ship what is in turret view to turn left, right, up and down wuthout going out of turret view.
If yes, than I like this idea very much.

I know I've brought this up before, but I know a possible alternative to turret view steering.

Unlocking mouse flight camera (notice the ubercool flak effects too)

That would explain why I kept seeing your char being kicked for cheating.
