Well I said a while back that I wouldn't pull any punches with the use of F1.
[SF]-T-Dare_Devil used F1 when attacked in Kusari space to switch to character [SF]-SFF-Hammerhead. Anyone know who this is? I had actually ceased fire at the time and was about to ask for money (though I've always thought it should be the one attacked to send a trade request).
Igiss, - this F1 facility really does need to be removed while in space.
Role-played characters:
daedalus - Liberty Navy
bandersnatch - Ruthless criminal possessed by a (huge) alien
Shredder - Small-time Kusari pirate, looking to join the Blood Dragons
"Bounty Hunters. We don't need that scum." - Admiral Piett
Some traders will go to any lengths to stop themselves being Pirated.
Dabs suggestion about escorts for traders need some rules though because I honestly don't see why a Large Train or even 3 or 4 Large Trains need to be escorted be a RH BS.
If this is truly going to be a RP server then escorts should be done as the NPC's do, nothing bigger then VHF's in the Borderworld and Nomad systems and HF's/LF's everywhere else.
This is how the NPC's do it so why should we change it?
We need to abolish the state why your attacking or that you are attacking rule as noone follows it. I've asked people many times if they are attacking me to go after my bounties or if it is a faction vs faction. I need to know this because if it is faction vs faction I'll need to declare war...
Also whyh can't someone be escorted by a battleship? Diplomats are usually transported by cruisers. Hey if someone is willing to pay a BS' price for escorting then he should be able to actually hire it.
And yes, the change character button should be removed unless docked to stop people from F1ing. Of course people will still just leave the server to avoid pirating and those people should be punished.
When i was on a mod called Asgard the F1 key was taken off.The only bad thing was that if you wanted to change character you had to press Alt and F4, then restart freelancer.Maybe we could put something like that onto discovery.

And some pirates will go to any length to rob and steal from honest traders. Whats the difference?
Ive asked before, and now I ask again: why cant we all just agree?
Look, some of us play simply for the enjoyment of earning money and flying the big ships. Now, I dont mind the occasional pirate attack but if a player simply wants to be left alone, then this should be respected.
This is a big server, and therere many players. Just how much does it matter to you if a few players do not want to be attacked?
BUT
That being said, seeing as the player in question did have a tag, and therefore must be assumed to participate in RP, I think it was a very cowardly thing to do. If he wanted to get even with the pirate, then he could at least pay the money and then switch to a fighter
I still think removing F1 is a bad thing as removing it will also remove access to the options menu.

If they pay then fine, but a few weeks ago a player called German-Transport was hardly ever on without another player called German-Escort, a RH BS with 21 solaris turrets.
Now I think thats pretty stupid because it could hardly move around Fort Bush without getting knocked around by Pirates so how was it suppose to get thru the Alaska asteroid field to protect the trading player?
