It would be great if Doom, Angel of Mercy, and everyone else who makes ships, create some sort of list with all software/utilities/plugins they are using, and links where to get them, and possibly useful hints. This way you will help each other, and, most important, help to make the mod better by avoiding common mistakes and problems already solved by others.

If you could add your list into the "First Aid for Developers" thread we can keep everything in one spot. If this thread becomes popular enough. perhaps it could be stickyed. First it needs more information, more links, and a little cleaning up.

If we're going to get list s and thing together in one place, perhaps it might be an idea if we (by which I mean everyone who is/has done any Freelancer editing) could put up tutorails and we can swap ideas and such like.

Primary reason I say this is because in this game there is more than one way to skin a cat, just that soe ways are better than others.

Any story on how those ships are coming along? If help is need please don't hesitate to PM me. I don't have an enormous amount of time on the weekdays and I may not use the same programs as you, but I can make time on the weekends to assist and am willing to try and help.

For Models: Milkshape 3D (1.7.8, I think)
For Editing Textures: UTF_Edit, or something like that
For Hardpoints: Hard CMP (Latest)
Editing Photos: Combination of PhotoImpression and Photoshop

Thats pretty much it....

Situation is as follows.

Doom's ships are fixed - all except for one. Angel of Mercy's ships still have corrupt textures. On Doom's and Angel of Mercy's PCs everything works OK, so it's not clear whether textures will be corrupt only on my machine, or on others too. Latter more likely, since I never had similar texture problems with any other ships, and my video card and drivers are quite recent.

So, we will probably face another PvP-only testing round with certain ships excluded from testing completely. Or, another delay.

If there is anyone knowing how to implement a model for testing in game (just .cmp and .mat files), i will send him the files. Best would be some people with different video cards (nVidia, ATI). Just PM me your e-mail.

Think its the best way to make a cross check to figure out, if the problem with the skins is depending on the type of video cards.

Problem is that I cannot customize the CMPs before they are ready. I did some basic customization before testing, but more is needed... so, until I get a bug-free version, I can't make the ships widely available even if they will display correctly for some or most players.

I'll release the beta with the lines in market_ships.ini commented out. They can be easily un-commented again locally, and used for testing the ships with texture issue.

Also, reporting that Kusari Bomber texture is now OK.
