Last one was in September (I think), but tremors have persisted until Christmas

But that's still so close together. It's plain rediculous how little time there was between the two hits. Also, there was in Baja Mexico again and I felt it here in Arizona. That was recent too. Like, holy crap!

CANNON POST DAMNIT!!!

With the current situation throughout the city, I strongly believe that he must be busy as hell. I doubt comm lines are still intact too.

Personally, I try to avoid Flood at all costs. When something more important like this comes up, I'd much rather see it in a more "accessible" place for me.

So here's hoping that Christchurch recovers. I'm pretty sure it will, given time. My heart goes out to those who have lost loved ones in this quake. Good luck to everyone down there.

This was a lesser earthquake but closer to the surface 5km, the other one was 33km below, so the surface felt this on more than the other, also this one was a major aftershok of the original, btw my cousin is safe and well, was out walking instead of at home

My thoughts are with everyone out there.

To everyone demanding Cannon post here. If you'd just been in a relatively major earthquake would you be more concerned with making sure your family/friends are safe and your house is intact or would you be rushing to the interwebz to tell people you don't even know that you're ok?

I live a small city of about 400k people called Christchurch in New Zealand. We've just had another bad earthquake. It is bad. We had a 7.1ish one a few months ago and nobody died. At least 65 people have died today.

There are now burning collapsed buildings in the central city.

The building opposite my wife's office collapsed as she was leaving.

This is not fun.

I and my family are okay although my wife had to walk home as the entire city was gridlocked.

*waves* I'm okay (and so's the family). My office is buggered up again and they finished fixing the ceiling in it only 2 weeks ago.

The internet would have worked almost immediately here but with no power and all of the cell phones only working for emergency calls, it was kind of hard to post on the forums...

It is bad though. Much worse than the last big one. Might leave town tomorrow and go visit family in a town that has water and toilets that work. A hole in the back garden isn't particularly pleasant.
