It happens more in NY because there's no RP in NY. People can just sit around shooting NPCs all day because there's no one who can stop them, nor anyone with a right to try and stop them.

I'm all for giving newbies a bit of leeway, but overall the who system shouldn't be pure OOC (as it is now). NY is too important a system, for Liberty, the Rogues, and smugglers, for it to have no RP and no PvP.

ya, can we get an entry system instead? it seems wrong that cardamine smugglers can just blow right through ny.

...did Igiss not say "No Entry System?" My vote's with the RP zone/damage zone.

He said no to making a new starter system like new york to be the new ooc system. That was never intended as my suggestion, so discussion should continue outside of a new starter system with npcs, missions, and starting spot.

Pro's and cons to new york becoming rp and pvp active im sure will still be looked at, as well as migrating the rule to a different already made system thats out of the way, or not as hindering to liberty faction rp, smuggling rp, and the center of sirius being a void.

counter points now

Quote:It's the first place new players go when they join the server, let's not become a bunch of cats-bum school mistresses. Give the newbies (and not so newbies) some leeway.

Huh? No offense intended, i dont understand the cats bum school mistresses comment. As far as giving noobies leeway, newyork will still be a starting zone, they still will be under protection below lvl 29, they still wont have a character developed and placed yet so their rp still can build on itself, and if they have questions im sure no one will report them for asking.

as long as the new people follow the rules, they wont have any more problems than they do currently if people are able to shoot people above lvl 29. And as others stated, seeing roleplay in the server in the starting zone would help not hinder ones beginning.

Quote:I for one like to think there's a safe haven, where I know my brand new chars can get a foothold without worrying about whether some putz is gonna use me for target practice, rule violation or no.

Ok, if your in a starflier you dont drop anything, and the person gets reported and sanctioned, probably losing everything. Also, the safe haven is the point of removing this exploit. Smugglers, pirates, murderers, enemy banks, Pirate banks, ect all sit in NY because rp is off in the zone. Its one of the biggest systems in the game, and its useless other than a chat room, and way to safely out of rp hide your equipment and run away.

New york also is one of the largest NPC conflict zones in the game. All of this conflict and war going on, yet its a neutral zone for players. That doesn't make sense, so RP without PvP between enemies while face to face wont meld correctly.

I know someone here makes custom systems, i'll pay for an empty one attached to Ny to be the new ooc non pvp question chat room bank storer.

Personally i would rather have a rule against storing banks inside the no pvp zones, and a rule against running to the no pvp zones. Kind of like F1ing if you ask me. Im not sure that the majority of the server would agree, with me on that, so ill stick with just a compromise to getting rp and pvp into new york:)

Ok so igiss said it is not possible to have a new starter system...but we could just create a system with easy access from Manhattan...like a JH right near the dock ring. And immerse NY into RP.

EDIT: so i just thought about this again. enemies of liberty would have a real tough time getting there.

All those mentioned factions will be far more concerned about killing each other. Also no one will want to kill a lowbie in a process, so I take it that battles will take place in a safe distance from manhattan. Neither faction wants to have a lowbie kill on it's record you see. And there are lowbies running around in California as well, yet they don't get killed unless they just get into the battle intentionally. See the massive battle ahead? Avoid it and move along.

Thats a good point, im sure some lower morality screw up would have the nerve to sit outside the ooc jumphole killing those exiting and entering. There is a rule that would cover this though, and result in a big sanction.

the most important rule on discovery.

Quote:1.2 Server administrators have a right to impose sanctions on players for violating of server rules and for any actions that harm server gameplay.

If someone does such a thing, sanction. Or even better, make it just as easy to get to the ooc system as it is to get to new york currently.

add in the empty ooc system, and add in 10 jump holes. 1 infront of manhattan, 1 next to each jumpgate out of new york. then five leading back to the respective jumpholes in manhattan, inside the empty zone. these five would be spaced out accordingly to match their New york counter parts, so they would still take up the time it takes to travel through the new york system.

Thats more work than 2 jump holes and an empty system, but would keep the ability to get their as safely as new york currently is to reach.

Ok, i see where your going here...but wouldn't it be easy for some smuggler to avoid detection by using the OOC system or for enemies of liberty to launch surprise attacks? If one were to do this they should not have trade lane connections within the OOC system and maybe even farther apart preventing any such activity. Honestly I don't see any of this happening. Sounds like a lot of extra planning.

Do you guys even read what I posted or should i just shut the hell up now??

I say this because people are making comments suggesting the same thing and then other comments with the same idea but bastardized ... jump holes going to all the major houses...BAD IDEA....you want a flippen OOC area...one way in .. one way out... link it to the empty area on the other side of the debris field around rodchester... then you have a place that is out of the way, newbies wont go exploring it right off the bat..people can sit there and chat their heads off....there is no reason to place any bases in it so it cant be used as a staging area for any attacks and cant be used to store out of RP items (banks)...end of problem.

Why does it seem that people have to contantly bicker and bitch about stuff that has an easy solution?
Maybe the ones that dont want NY to return to normal play are the ones that have the banks stored there illegally. I really dont understand why people are so concerned with NOOBS being attacked...it it happening so often currently??? Who in their right flippen minds is going to risk losing several millions just to pop some pipsqeak in a starflyer? If they do..they deserve to be put into a starflyer.
