I've always gone for 'surrogates', as in artificial and very sophisticated robots that look like you, that you can control remotely from your base. Meaning that when it dies, you simply unplug yourself and await the four hour 'reprint' until you relocate to the next printing store.
"Death" type 1 - You get blown to smithereens, but someone was borrowing your ship, and you're some sort of black king that owns a million other ships. Problem solved.
"Death" type 2 - Escape pod. Location location location.
And the fact that you're still alive helps, even if you end up in jail for a while and work your way back up.. or that you're dropped off at a friendly base, or cash out to be discretely "misplaced".
"Death" type 3 - Either, you're an AI copy.. or it's a remote controlled drone, you spend the next four hours piecing together your next prototype.
Actual death type 1 - You're a clone, deal with it.
Actual death type 2 - Delete everything.
Actual death type 3 - Cheat death, like a boss. Noone will ever know.
Actual death type 4 - Yeah, say the roleplay -requires- your character to die. Doesn't mean someone else can't pick up the mantle, or better yet, accidentally register their ship with the same name by "pure coincidence".
Death by thread - HAI GUYS I NEED TO JUSTIFY GAME MECHANISMS FOR THE SAKE OF REALITY OR I CAN'T COPE
- Well, I can. I cope. Like a profe.. boss. Mid-boss
One of these days, there will be a clever, stylish and/or funny signature here.
This is still not that day, however.

Protagonists tend to have incredible luck. Clearly your fate includes escaping that explosion. Then, of course, the group you work for gives you a new ship. No idea how unlawful Freelancers keep getting new ships - can you buy insurance as an intergalactic terrorist?

In Liberty, you can insure anything.
Even the virginity of one of your passengers, even has a clause that bypasses a randy Rogue coming around and stealing it. They'll sow it right back up.

True, but what about the OTHER Houses? Not everyone is fortunate enough to be in Liberty. What about all those poor Bundschuh supporters? :'(
But mostly, the use of "sow" in that context just makes it better. Clearly, you are still too LWB-ified.
Explain why I got an e-mail copy of this quote from ya?
