I heard it first in Dublin during the crazy aftermath of the canceled race event. The admins used their Admin magic to disable everyone's shields there to get their attention, and then later told us that we could type "/shields" to reactivate them. I haven't seen any official announcement about it.
The same goes for the new "/selfdestruct" command, which was only really "announced" here (I imagine that I would have seen a few death messages then if I hadn't had them set to system only). Needless to say, this is now my new favorite server command.
And now apparently there's a "/jump" command, which brings up some interesting text... Who knows how much was really added in this latest "server testing"?

Nope. Type /shields once, your shields are immediately deactivated. Type /shields again, your shields are "reactivated", but take a few seconds to actually kick in again. And when they do, they have to charge all the way from zero. Go in-game and try it, you'll see.
The new commands are meant to hint you in a particular direction in order to discover something else Cannon added. Discovery, and all that.
I found out why /jump was added, and no, im not going to tell you.
Now go find out about /cloak.
