Meh, I'm not fond of capships myself, but some of them can be great fun. Liberty Dread and Ossiris are excellent. Cruisers can be awesome as well....I just love the Vidar :nyam:
I have 8 cruisers/dessi/battle cruisers and just love the class. Find a faction that interests you and have fun.
I get the most action out of liberty ships, best fights from rheinland ships and the best convos from bret ships.
If you go lawful you will be able to patrol a lot and talk to the locals, if you go unlawful you need to keep on the move and avoid easy to get to fights close to lanes.
Cruisers are only marginally more useful then BS. At least in a cruiser it is easy to fly.
Don't believe all of what you hear about the battle cruisers. They are slow, but they have good power systems for the type of weapons they mount. Bombers will be your bane, but you will have a better time fighting funboats, bs's and other cruisers.
My only cap is a Rheinland Cruiser. Owned a Scylla before, both are excellent ships and suit their role, this being cap ship bombardment from afar, perfectly.

not really. You ever had or fought one?
I had quite some battleships so far and fights against other caps usually are interesting. With the jug it was like playground. The only time i got killed with it by another cap was against 2 nomad battleships. All one on ones against other battleships or cruisers were easy going. Its also the only ship i know where you can fire three mortars the same time and they hit the enemy with enough time in between so that the second or third one keeps on damaging the hull, while first or second downed the shield. pretty comfortable to fight like that, too.
And by the time you noticed something is missing on your 6 mio hull, the opponent most likely is already burning;)
' Wrote:Also, the Bullhead is infinitely better than the Geb, simply because it is smaller and more agile. Basically, a well flown Bullhead will beat a Geb 1 v 1 every time.
If you say so. Just named the GEB cause it looks pretty nice for a cruiser and 18 turrets sounds like something.
Bullhead...hmm...so would that be the bounty hunters compensation for their "battle"ships then? ;)

I've fought many, MANY Juggies, the thing is, the Juggy is huge, and can be bombarded by other ships from extreme range, where they can either stay un-hit, or they can simply kite it. I mean the Juggy is the easiest ship ever to kite against, so easy that I'd bet even a Legate or a KuBS could kite a Juggy and kill it. Basically, try fighting an Osiris who knows how to kite, then try fighting a Valor who knows how to fight, you'll pretty quickly see why the Juggy is really not that great.
Almost every BS in the game can either kite the Juggy, or beat it head on (by staying at range for as long as possible), the few exceptions may be the Lib Carrier (worst BS in the game), the Sarissa (almost as bad) and the Marduk, which is much bigger than the Juggy, and would present an even fight, given that it runs out of power so fast with those Nom turrets on the Juggy's 6 mil hull (with CAU8).
Also, the Geb is the same size as the Osiris, but less agile, and it can only thrust to 119 ms, the bullhead is much smaller, turns much faster, and can thrust to 140 ms. The Bullhead pilot simply has to know how to use those advantages, and if the pilot does, the Geb will die. And yeah, the Mako is not a very good BS, however, I'd still bet it could kite a Juggy and win (especially if it has a Mortar or two on a 360 slot).
Quote:Edit: Also, Battleships are only really effective when they have escorts, so unless you're looking to join a faction and get a Battleship, you may want to stick to Cruisers, as at least they can run away quite quickly if needs be, BSs just get stuck in combat and die if the enemy has a single CD, and is more powerful.
LOL, Obviously you've never gone against any experienced BS pilots.

Have you? What faction do you kill zoners that much? Hmm?
A battleship cannot kite another battleship, that doesnt make sense. Ive avoided numerous mortars in my Jink. Cruisers are major fail If you know what your doing in a BS. If you've got a fighter or bomber with you they can easilly be killed. It is INEVTIABLE that both of you kiss eachother and the larger will almost always win unless your a light BS and you know what your doing.
Heaviest bs > Heavier BS > Heavy BS
The food chain.
Cruise up on the Cruiser, stop, as it -tries- to thrust away it'll be at about 2.2k+ when your generators are back, so you can clobber it mercilessly while the Fighter/bomber CD's it.

The same goes for all BS's, not just the juggy silly. The juggy can avoid mortars easily at 3k+, any closer than that and it doesnt matter because superior hull and damage output will easily destroy the competition. (Except for caps with more turrets, then it gets interesting, like 18 turret ships)
Yo....Corsair V Omicroner.
And he's right. THe Juggy sucks.
And as for cruising up on cruisers, Once the BS starts to go faster, any passable captain knows to turn and CD.
Seeing as a light mortar has 4k range, and missile 5k, you have plenty of time.
And if your talking about BS and fighter against a single cruiser, well duh, course BS and fighter wins.
Hell, even then two good cruiser captains can take on a whole gaggle of average captains and kick butt.
Once Snak3 and i took out a LABC a gunboat and a bomber against two LABC's a cruiser a gunboat and two bombers.
How? Beacuse the superior range of our rear-mounted mortars and missiles allowed us to avoid large amounts of damage, and the cruisers CD allowed us to keep distance.
gone four years, first day back: Zoners still getting shot in Theta :|
' Wrote:Have you? What faction do you kill zoners that much? Hmm?
Take a wild guess. >.>
In fact, both the Core and the Corsairs have been shooting at Zoners. Oh and if I remember correctly, you lost your Juggy 1v1 to a Mako at one point, so as bad as the Mako may be, how bad is the Juggy? xD
And what I mean by Battleships only being effective when in a fleet is that a couple of Bombers, or pair of Cruisers will obliterate a lone Battleship if they are decent pilots. However, if a Battleship is part of a fleet, it will be considerably more effective and will survive for a lot longer, doing more damage.
Also, at 3k, the Legate can strafe about 30 to 40 % of primary fire, the Kusari BS and Valor can strafe about 20 % at 3k, the Juggy can strafe 0 %. Hull HP doesn't matter in the slightest when you cant hit the enemy as much as they can hit you.
And one last point, Light Battleships CAN kite heavier BSs, rather easily, and EK/rev wont let you catch any of the more experienced ones. This is another reason why BSs are infinitely more effective in mixed fleets.

Montii Is completaly RIght .... Juggernaut is a huge moving Target .
And he's also right about the Kusari Destroyer . Skinny and decent firepower and strafy.
You should Try the Thresher , The Kusari Dessie or the Storta .
Or
Save lil' more cash and Buy the Osiris . Wich is the best Battleship i ever flown ( had a few .Jugger Included ^^)
Or
(My favorite option)
Buy a gunboat , put a cau8 on it buy a BS license...
Find a few friends with Gunboats ( luckly with cau8 on it aswell) and take over sirius!!!
