I thought you were pimping this as a Junker Cap Ship? My comments were along that line of thought. Just seems too big to be coming out of a junker shipyard.

Yes I did intend it to be a junker ship (Similar to a liner), but you do have a valid point. It fits the game just not the intended faction. I can live with that. This overall deign has evolved a long way from the day it entered my mind a month ago. We can still mold it further. The question is who do we gear the design towards? The first impulse is Corsair. What say the rest of the community?

GMG maybe? They did manage to fight off Rhineland during the war, apparently without any capships.

Useful.......It could keep the planed utility looking bits and not be out of place. The tanks on the left side would need a to become bigger.

Don't go into Corsair Capships, that's my project, boys. Working on the engines now.

Actually, I think it does need to be smaller. Definitely scale it down another twenty percent or so, so we can make it a battlecruiser. (Now don't get me started on those:angry:)

Alright buddy consider you leg lifted and your territory marked. As it turns out AoM wants to keep this ship a Junker vessel. So we will conduct some refinements along those lines. What would make this vessel more junker, other then than the size problem? The intent was to build a junker 'liner' which this is about the right size. (The actual liners are longer this is just taller)

Also Dude 42 is jumping on the junker development bandwagon and sent me a PM earlier. I have re-named the Thread title so that we can use this as our brainstorming center where the rest of the community can be involeved in what we plan.

The following is the PM sent to me by Dude 42. The wall of text that follows is my response.

Now as you noticed my design sketch brought up some criticisms. Several felt that it simply did not make a good junker ship. Thats fine Ideas must evolve. They tend to become better in the end.

Having said that I recommend you post those rough 3d comps in the developing thread. (Either in mine or your own) You are going to run into resistance in two areas. In this community many expect a junker ship to be ran down or at the very least under engineer or utilitarian. That design you have used is not either of those things. It looks like a finely tuned machine and provides this aura of "Militaristic Intent."

So the first thing to do is post the ship deign and get a feel on the community's reaction. This will help you refine the ship into the best ship It can be. Then you have your second battle with Igiss. He maintains a strict level of quality control for everything that goes into Discovery. Since he is a lone wolf when it comes to adding content getting your ship in wont be easy unless you have strong support behind your work. Even then that is not a given. Look at my Tortuga project.

Getting ships into the mod will be difficult. Even more for us working as team like you propose. We are the two best know junkers on the sever and any thing we submit will be assumed to be biased in its design. We will need to be ready to make concessions but know exactly where to make stands with strong arguments.

Now lets do some concept stuff on a new Junker GB since I am mighty sure that particular design will not go over well at all. Adding new ships from another Sci-Fi series is an uphill battle. Adding one from the dreaded homeworld games will be an absolute NIGHTMARE! The only you could get that thing in would be as an outcast GB since the next version up is also a homeworld ship and the two would tie together well.

So lets brainstorm:

What are some key elements that we as junkers would like to see in our ships.

How do we want then to look and what can we do to change that impression to suit what the community would like to see in a junker ship.

Any suggestions for the above? Truth be told I suggest we move this brainstorm to a thread in the forums. opinions from others can and do help!

I thought the model is supposed to be a Slave Transport. Not only for Junkers, but sold by them.

If the community is thinking this ship does not fit with Junkers, i will not claim it for.
Maybe its time for a new ship class:
The Heavy Troop Carrier, for what faction ever.

Sorry Eppy, but i already submitted a Corsair Cruiser to Igiss.

Well yes but I haven't phrased it as such and have focusing on it being an overall junker vessel. Some might see me as trying to build a vessel for my faction, which is partly a truth but I am trying to keep in mind that discovery is played on other servers as well. I wanted something usable by many, not just my own faction. I am doing as best as possible to keep my bias out of this.
