I think time between logins is a factor here. As an example I was just outside planet New berlin when the last Ion storm hit. When I logged back in I was exactly where I had been. Nuff said.

Not really "nuff said," given that several people have reported the exact same problem of logging in and being far off plane. I did some testing just now, logging back and forth between two accounts fairly quickly, and wasn't able to trigger it.

Either a whole lot of people decided to make up the exact same lie at the same time, or this is an actual issue that can happen. Until someone comes along with extensive testing to figure out what triggers it, or Cannon states what's going on, it won't really be "case closed."

Just leave it floating outside the base, dock, switch ships, undock, grab your ore... I did it with codies, armors (some really expencive ones), ore, regular guns, pretty much anything... and I did it so many times it hurts. Only once I lost something, 2 out of 4 codies, because I docked before they fullly matherialised. Just drop it. Wait 2 sec. Dock. Switch char. Undock. Tractor.

I lost over 20million credits worth of ore trying it this way. Never again.

Logged back in on my miner and was 40k over the plane just now. I hadn't logged in on him since I was testing last night.

Perhaps it's the amount of time spent logged out while F1ed?
