Today I helped some relatives to move from one house to another and in the new place they got, I found a rusty replica of a medieval sword. To my surprise, it had a carved sign that red Colada del Cid

Colada Del Cid was, El Cid's sword - I think it was named "Tizona" but I'm not sure.

El Cid of course being a well known spanish soldier and mercenary.

I think that Colada and Tizona were two separate swords, both used by El Cid. But yeah, El Cid, generally a hardcore sort of guy. Crazy Spaniard. Did things most people don't.

Keep it and check to see if it's legit or fake.

I know El Cid was a Spanish hero! I DID play Age of Empires II you know....:D

It's obviously a fake, a replica, so I'm gonna keep it and hang it on top of the fireplace:P

Now that I come to think about it, at highschool they even made us remember a Cid Romance...

Afuera afuera Rodrigo!
El soberbio Castellano
Acordarsete deberia
Aquel buen tiempo pasado
Cuando te armaron Caballero
En el altar de Santiago

It goes on but my memory is weedy.

Wiki says

Quote:Swords
Tizona

A weapon traditionally identified as El Cid's sword, Tizona, used to be displayed in the Army Museum (Museo del Ejército) in Toledo. In 1999, a small sample of the blade underwent metallurgical analysis which confirmed that the blade was made in Moorish Córdoba in the eleventh century and contained amounts of Damascus steel. [Garcia Alonso et al., 1999]

In 2007 the Autonomous Community of Castile and León bought the sword for 1.6 million Euros, and it is currently on display at the Museum of Burgos.

El Cid also had a sword called Colada.
