AI ID isn't bad, but without strict guidelines and obligin players to follow it it becames rather annoying. It's an ID that allows player to fly a Cruiser and follow his own taste in picking up targets. In the current state I see almost all the AI IDed players as players abusing the basic idea of AI roleplay.
So, Gaian ID (as well as some other) don't allow anything bigger than a gunboat, but that's not a problem. I can strip faction bank and buy a whole fleet of AI IDed Cruisers and then come to shoot BAF, Mollys or Outcast with them because I can.
And because I wrote a sweet story about Gaians reprogramming a swarm of AI Core vessels for their own needs since Gaians are clever and all graduated from Cambridge and other Universities blah blah blah. Does it make sense? A lot of people play their AI Cruisers as almost Nomad Morphs - cute, curious, willing to learn - but had you ever seen a Morph with Light Mortair?
The same comes for the Drones and Core Vessels that are roleplayed created or controlled by humans. I mean, what?
Within the inhumanly complex plating of this mysterious vessel pulses the life of a sentient machine. Cradled amidst miles of gossamer wiring a swirling maelstrom of electronic information is processed to form the mind, and control the body, of this delicate life as it seeks, and fights, to establish its own place amongst the stars. Powered by unknown technologies that allows it to tap into the fires of stellar bodies, this light craft converts the largely ignored energies of cosmic radiation for propulsion and firepower. Sure, created by humans, controlled by humans. Just remembered me of my old friend Bob.the.Nomad.
Please, make AI ID limited again, please, encourage the people who are interested in playing this role to join the faction that can keep an eye on usage of faction-only technology. Please, don't give kids the guns.

I knew things were changing but I hadn't thought this had happened.
Hell, no. Luckily, all the engagment rules including prohibition of engaging transports in Capital Ships apply to AI ID as well.

That faction decided to rephack the ID hostile to a whole bunch of factions for no good reason.
Well, for example, i dont like the molly destroyer looks, but i want to use a ship i like, so whynot get the AI one, also nearly everytime there will be action, cuz nobody likes Toasters:P
If you want to play Molly, you can use Rogue/Molly shipline and ships included in it or request the ship from another faction that has white cell on techchart. To roleplay AI-controlled ship you technically don't need an AI ID, but once you pick up AI ID you are supposed to play according to some guidelines.
Unfortunately, with zero activity of official faction the guidelines for AI ID became something mysterious and lost many centuries ago. But for sure a giant Drone created by a self-reproducing machines shouldn't follow the guidelines of Molly roleplay.
Apparently, such cases are meant to be resolved via Special Roleplay requests. But just picking up ID-roleplay combination you want for some reason because SRP are closed defeats the whole purpose of the ID system itself.
And, yes, AI ID don't include a line defining who can be attacked by AI IDed ship and under what circumstances, but since all the other IDs include such a line, the lack of it shouldn't be interpreted as permissiveness on ID that gives unlimited ZOI and access to Cruiser with no particular limitations.
AI RP is bother some... some people do it well, others.. use it as a weapon or a pvp tool...
Just the other day an AI cruiser came in NY and found a fight between lawful fighters/bombers and a few outcasts and for some reason hopped in and engaged the lawfuls...
Why? I still don't know. Why would this "machine" ally itself with Outcasts? why would it choose to attack lawfuls?
I wish there was a way to know... but most AI RP is.. hard to understand and interpret.
Iâll carry this flag
To the grave if I must
Because itâs flag that I love
And a flag that I trust
I wonder, just now, if Nomad ships and AI ships could be made to grow. You know, everybody starts with some piece of junk LF, but solid weaponry, and they grow as the time on the char passes. IE: AI Fighter eventually upgrades to an adequate freighter, than maybe transport ship, or gunboat (make two IDs for that, with different evolution paths) and then larger...
