Joe looked at the lift and at the pad connected to it where he had to enter his code.

Joe : Let me think....... Aha! Of course, how could i have forgotten...

He entered his code.

Joe : Cerberus Black 012, By the way, can i smoke inside?

Dave : No you can't Joe, try to stop it.

Dynamic Interface : Activating Elevator, please stand clear.

The elevator took the 3 officers deep into the complex. Dave felt a cold chill on his backbone. He was a little nervous. The door opened. The long corridor was pretty darken, only a few people where going throughout the corridor. Most of them were Cerberus scientist. But they had that look like they discovered something terrible.

Dave : Why they all look so strange Erik ? Is something wrong in here ?

Joe felt it too, there was something wrong, but he couldnt think of what it could be. He took a last drew on his cigar and he cut the light bit off, then he put it back in his jacket. You may never know when you need some motivation.....

Joe : All right Colonel, i have extuingished my cigar, but what is wrong with these scientists?

Dave looked very intrigued by the odd behavior of the local scientists, he then went further into the compound and he asked a lonely scientist that was working on a desk very focused on his work. The scientist turned very slowly and he had a terrified look, like he found something terrible. Dave was very frightened of what mystery he could find out.

Dave : Greetings... *he looked to his insignia* Mark, what's going on on this level of the compound ? Why this tense atmosphere ?

Mark : Well... it's ... because of the thing. It floats, and it makes strange noises and drives people crazy. It gets into your mind and controls you but you can't feel it... you get stressed, feared by something, I heard some of them saw creatures... the radiation level is high or I don't know ... try to avoid the area Dr. Synk, things went wrong on Deck B4.

Dave : I understand... carry one then Mark, and try to get out from here... this place isn't good for you anymore as it seems...

Dave saw the local scientists went a little bit insane. That was something clear, alpha brain waves manipulation. The source apparently was from the artifact nearby, or "the thing" since they didn't mentioned anything of artifact or K'Hara. Something was new...

Dave : Ok men, let's head towards the Deck B4, get your weapons ready, we can find everything down there...

Joe : All right, Rock 'n Roll!

Joe grabbed his handgun, checked the energy levels and switched to "Shredder rounds". He put the gun in its holster with a cheeky grin and a quick look at some of the scientist's papers, it all seemed like the floating thing the scientist described. It was a weird looking thing, which Joe couldn't describe as he already felt his head becoming a bit numb. Maybe it was already affecting him, or it could, of course, be the adrenaline rushing through his veins.....

Joe : Dave, please lead the way.

Dave unholstered his gun, as he went slowly with Erik and Joe to the main corridor which led to the dig site. The corridor was abandoned, and mostly devastated. On the walls there were several messages which gave them a feeling that something really terrible happened. They slowly felt the effects of the artifact discovered, but they resisted because of the neural implants they had. They arrived in front of a big metal door, which was apparently sealed. There were 2 unconscious guards. Dave took a closer look at them, scanning their vital signs.

Dave : Hmm their brain suffered critical damage due to severe brain activity, over the scale alpha waves...

He took the access codes from the guard and went to the door, introducing the obtained codes.

Dave : Ok this should .... holy ...

He dropped his gun as the door opened, when a purple-blue light invaded the long corridor. The source of the light was an object of 3 meters height, semi transparent, separated into two floating parts, linked in the middle by a metallic sphere.

Dave : What ... is ... this ? I'll be damned If I ever saw something like this before...

Dave's eyes were analyzing centimeter by centimeter of the alien object.

Joe slowly stumbled back and his eyes quickly looked for something that might function as a cover. He did not saw any but he unholstered his gun and aimed it at the "thing". What the hell was it anyway? Could it be hostile? If so, where should he shoot it? Did it have a head? All those questions were buzzing in his head, but he had to remain vigilant!

Joe : Dave, Erik, Get Back!!!! We don't know what it is, it could kill us!
