If someone asks you how the night is, is that enough RP to start blowing you up? My brother was flying a rogue ID transport and a Reaver asked him how the night was then started blowing him up, going so far as to chase him into cassini to finish him off... Was this a legal move or totally bogus? I just wanna know if I have good reason to be angry or not.

DO you want my personal opinion? Or do you want the communal acceptable answer?

Did your brother have a bounty on his head?

Both. I mean it is aggrivating to have plans with my brother for the night disrupted by a trigger happy wannabe merc but still. I wanna know the actual ruling on what it would be.

And no fletcher, no bounties on us. the LR ID itself is bountied by the Liberty Bounty board, but no threats as per requirement of that board were made.

Wonderful.

Personally if (was acceptable as SOME well known group used it as their engagement notice against an unarmed Ki) "orrrg" was enough for RP engagement then certainly "How is the night?" would be as well. I believe that is sucky and lame RP. But again most times you have to kill quick in order to get the kill, or make the first move sorts.

I believe the standards of RP should fit into some mode. But you and I be dreaming should ever be a focus on RP in game, first. Basically this game engine limits really your purpose in game. It's a combat arcade and that's what you do. So it's pointless to try to regulate what is and isn't acceptable minimum of RP experience (Doesn't mean we shouldn't try.)

Edit: TO make it more clear; RP response to a generic question IS your RP response to their intentions. Silence or answering the question IS the RP response to the inRP question. That is the claim and safety net and minimum of this server's RP abilities.

Over all I believe it shouldn't count.

Communal response: LULWUT! U MAD REAVER KILL YOU BRO? GET BETTER SKILL! (AKA: It counts)

I'd prefer my opinion however...

The "must RP before PvP" rules is made to prevent people who dont care about RP and rules from blowing up anything they see.

The Reavers members are a group of players who know the rules and RP requirements, and who like to stretch it to the limit, to show that they can.

If you do the same to them, you will get sanctioned because you are not a veteran discoveryGC member, and people will assume you are a noob who doesnt care about rules but just to blow things up.

If they do it to you, they wont get sanctioned because everyone knows they know the rules and they fulfilled exactly the "required" minimum to blow you up, and they will be snickering about you in their skype chat while reading your post, about how much you are noob to not know that nothing will ever happen to them.

My advice, as a friend, is to just ignore things like this happening. If you dont accept that some people are allowed to behave like that and others arent, the people who are allowed will do everything they can to discredit you in every way possible.

If you are ready to go through that, object to their behavior. If you dont want to got through that, just pretend it didnt happen and continue playing hoping that you will meet them as rarely as possible.

Good luck.

EDIT:
Somehow, your signature is now bigger than I saw it before.
It must not be larger than 700x250 pixels, or it will stretch the webpage and make it hard to read.
If the Reaver did not say that he was hired someone or that there is a bounty on your head, he did indeed commit a rule violation.
If you have screenshots, you can post a rule violation report. If you dont have screenshots, be prepared to take them during almost every time you have PvP. The "Print" button on your keyboard takes them, and you will find them in your Picures/Frellancer Screenshots folder. You can upload them to sites like imageshack and post the links to them in your report. If you dont link screenshots, your report will be ignored.

If you have screen shots and are unsure if you want to make a report, you can show them to me and I will give you my opinion if what they did could get sanctioned or not.

Well it would be nice to be able to simply shrug it off except for the fact that is shuts down one of the company transports from operation for 4 hours. Since we aren't engaging in standard trade we have to follow the rule to stay out of the system because someone decided it'd be fun to pick on a group of people who make it a point to do very little other than farm and be nice.

Read my post again, I edited while you were typing.

I think I understand what happened.

You were "farming" in a way that was for a long time the prime risk free-money source for a lot of veteran members, probably also of the Reaver who blew you up.

They dont want you to make money in this way, because there is not much risk involved, and it used to be the secret source of income of a lot of veteran members.

This has happened before. A moderator said that he would remove this possibility of farming for everyone so that peopel wouldnt fight over it, but apparently he didnt.

It looks to me like you were being blown up because you were using as place to farm that other people want to keep only for themselves.

I recommend you file a violation report, if oyu have screenshots.

Sadly my brother didn't take screenies of the event, and something I've noticed about sanctions, they rarely stop the true lolwuts from prevailing. They just get set back a few days worth of credits, make a new ID and continue, so ultimately the time involved for sanctioning is wasted.
