' Wrote:personally i d only take someone serious about capital ship control - when they apply the same rules to VHF / bombers - which ... by experience ... are and have been a lot ( a LOT ) more disruptive to gameplay and violations.
capital ships are a shipclass - not a player stigma.
and for people who believe that we keep capital ships "weak" cause of the risk of abuse..... think again. - that thought has NOTHING to do with the balance of capital ships.
even if there d be a total admin control and only a handful capital ships on the server - they d STILL be like they are now.
Yep, that's the way it is folks.
Of course, I'm biased, seeing that I prefer flying caps over snubbies.
This is a game. A game "should" be fun for as many as possible. Jumping through hoops and living up to some other player's or faction's RP expectations are, more often than not, the exact opposite of "fun".
Caps are part of this server.
Caps are one of the reasons this server is popular.
Caps are the reason why the overwhelming majority of players even bothers to trade. Thus providing sport in game and on the forums.
Caps are here and freely usable within the framework of server rules. Suck it up and move on.
Idea sucks. I do not care what rules/regulations,or what not on factions. Admins, and owner has stated. All ships(even caps) will be freely availible to all players faction,or indie.
People seem to think that every faction player is somehow better,or more experienced then non faction. They are not. I have seen just as many faction lolwuts,as i have seen indie in my 4+ years here. I have run a faction, been in 2 factions, and in 1 faction now. Am i better then the indies? NO! Should i tell them how to play? NO! Only difference is i have a couple more pixles in my name that they do not. Nothing more, nothing less.
So enough of this "control" Cap crap. Not going to happen.
As stated above. If cap's are controled? then so should bombers, and fighters, and transports. All these are actually abused far more then a BS is. For example: how many BS furballs have you seen? where every ship that comes by,just flies into fight firing without RP. I have seen no BS do this, but see it daily with fighters, and bombers. Half the time you do not even know who is on what side.
SO CHILL OUT AND PLAY.STOP TRYING TO CONTROL OTHERS,THATS ADMINS JOB!!!

Because, honestly, I have more issues with silly fighters and bombers, they are more common and are more prone to travelling in packs. If Capital ships wouldn't exist, you guys would attempt to restrict traders so powertraders would be forced to roleplay. Hmm, maybe I am being rude...
For some reason I thought we were already past the idea of trying to control and were looking for ideas and how to avoid the general lolwhutery
Also, Ryoken.

That kinda sounds like a contradiction in terms to me:P

Your dead on. In last 2-3 month's i had 1 run in with a lolcap, but probly in excess of 100 in fighters/bombers/transports. Lets ban em all,and float around in life pods.

Hmm you saying I try to control others? I don't care what other's do,unless they are trying to force me to follow them.
1 last thing i just cannot get out of my head. Thats the factions will determine if you RP'd enough to get a cap.
I am sorry, but each, and every player has their own idea's of RP. No single person,or group should ever be able to say i do not like your RP,you cannot have ship.
' Wrote:Couldn't agree more. The irony is, though, that most experienced members are indeed like that, and they rarely submit a report, for example. Instead, those same "lolwhuts" (god I hate the term, but it conveys the message better than others) are rule lawyers. I've never had an experienced player yell at me about something, whereas I had tons of new players yell at me repeatadly "that is against the rules, I report". Of course, they soon found out they had no reason to report, but hey...
You see my point?:)
Yes, I certainly see your point, and agree. Most of the more experianced players I have come across, if I was doing somethign wrong, will simply inform me of it without being upset with me. Now obviously how things go from there is based on my responce which is generally "ahh very sorry, I was not aware of that, thankyou I will certainly look into it".. more or less.
Being such, is the reason I said community and did not really specify one or another group.
I think the largest problem is not the new people or the older people in the community. It is those in the community that are somewhat inbetween. These individuals know enough to caught issues, but obviously not enough to not cause issues if you know what I mean.

That is something I agree with. But again, we're already past that idea.
I do not think new player, old player,or mid range even matters. It is attitude. Some just do not care about rules, and will look to abuse. Also some do not speak english. Yet some are also young children that just do not play well with others. Point being you have no idea who is on other side of the web.

I do not think he was refering to likeing or disliking RP.. but the quantity of RP..
I can take 10min to sit down and write a 1 page forum post that basically ends in a Cap request...
Does that in any way form show that once I get ingame I am not just going to LULCAP my way into problems?..
I think what he was looking for was, "RP in-game to show that you actually know whats going on, that your not just in it for ZOMG PVPS!".. Obviously this is conditional as well as someone can RP their way there and then not give a crap afterwards... I am simply saying that I beleive this is what he was getting at.
Many people's RP I do not personally "like".. but I can say that they do infact RP. Isnt that the idea of RP.. to be creative, and to cause friction and drama between factions so that the game is fun and interesting...
So I would say in terms of his post.. it is not a liking/disliking.. It is more a contrast to RP or no-rp?

All valid points, but I still think we should try and teach those who want to learn. Hell, prolly I'd be a lolwhut myself if I didn't have Jeremy/Scott/Martin/Calum (ex/current USI leadership, first faction I joined, on my first week on disco) to teach me. Also, it may sound harsh, but no english, no game. I don't like telling people "you can't play here", but that's how it is. It's like one who wants to drive and doesn't have a driving license.
