I'd say it more depends on how you type your particular type of controversy. Or rather... the methods and tone with which you present an argument.

The trouble is that because this is the internet, people find it extremely easy to get angry. A heated debate in a face to face situation has a far lower chance of turning into a screaming match than one does over the internet.

It's easier to be snarky, unpleasent and obnoxious to those who's faces you can't see, and far easier to rage in responce to that... Same reason perfectly reasonable and kind hearted people turn into rage filled monsters while driving.

Hence, why 4.86 will never be released. Broken Bonds is more likely to be in its seventeenth public release before 4.86 happens, and I am being completely serious when I say that I have doubts 4.86 even exists.

Too true, anyway, please let us keep to the topic and not be "controversial". Jeez, people these days, hehe.

When im in the picture, yes "screaming" might appear once my tiny level of patience is worn out

I am snarky, unpleasent and obnoxious face to face as i rely on my natural reflexes to dodge when you try beat me up later.

I love pushin peoples buttons.... always intresting results

There's not a single thing that happens anywhere on these forums that can actually justify the kind of bad blood this place can produce. All in all, most people are alright & treat people the way they wanna be treated...It's just that there are some people around here who seem to live their entire social life in front of a screen & have grossly underdeveloped social skills. They like to create drama out of nothing cause that's all they have.

It's not really sad really. It's creepy. (ok, it's a little bit sad...but creepy covers it better)

Controversy creates arguments usually.
People have trouble seperating their differences from their dislikeskes.
As folks have said, the Internet's lack of visual and audio support for most conversations leaves us typically looking like dicks when we sometimes may not mean to be. Or allowing us to act like dicks with no consequences.

Generally, if you are 'controversial', you disagree or think differently than a good few folk in the community. This typically leads to at least some of those folk disliking you, leading to some rather heated OOC disliking. Which can typically lead to trouble.

Why does disagreeing with someone have to lead to them disliking you? I find it is more the in game relations that tend to find their way on to the forum, rather than the other way around. It seems to be a common occurrence in games and indeed sports. People tend to take it far too seriously.

In my daily life I find most people are not completely afraid of change. However, they tend to be far more accepting of change if it is done over a longer period of time and gives them their chance to add their views on the matter. If they don't and that change really does impact their lives, then they get cranky very quickly. I think that sort of situation plays out quite often on freelancer. Some would say it is just a game, and of course it is, but games are never fun if major changes occur without the ability to actually control what happens.
