If you're smuggling or breaking embargos, that's your own damn fault and the lawfuls have every right to stop you.
To the OP: Don't ever fill your hold with your entire bank account. You need to have enough money to re-buy your cargo five times over.
If someone tries to pirate you for more than you have? Bargain with them. "I can't do that now, but if you want to wait 20k from Manhattan I'll give you that much after I've sold my cargo."

Another reason why there are so many pirates, is because people want money, so people trade. More traders = more pirates, its a fact of life.
ahmm libby is not made to kill stuff, even though it tends to kill stuff.
it's made to annoy stuff, or just warn traders about pie-wats at certain lanes.

Indeed, but you try finding the joy in having to wait several hours to rety to jump in without fear of rule lawyers for you being killed when THEY come into your system. Whether the rules were on their side or not I didn't want the hassle.
Yes, it gives me a near orgasmic pleasure to disrupt pirate transport smugglers while I await the lovable LN and LPI murder *cough* law enforcement squads and battleships to take care of it.
Also, killing Sabres brought me great joy... until they started hiring Eagles and Griffin mercenaries.
