Indies are part of the disco food chain. one can't exist without the other.
Indies offer something that factions can't: a different perspective within the same factions. Some indies provide a shot of new blood into the old school if they decide to go official & some provide a different perspective to the complacent that can energize activity for both sides. Indies & officials exist in a symbiotic relationship & neither can survive without the other.
Some factions get good indies, other factions get indies that take it too far.
Some indies may not want to RP, but can do it when put in a position where its expected or demanded that you RP. Some indies will bluntly ignore anything called RP and do as they want. Some indies will RP to a degree where you know their just gonne PVP with words
On the other hand... Without indies, this useless thread would not exist, so we call can certainly blame them for something.
...Said the indie?
Let's see...
1. Indies can roleplay whatever they like. For instance,I don't think [LN] would accept a LN indie who is roleplaying a criminal in disguise, for one, even if the guy roleplays well.
2.Independents make up at least 75% of the server,in fact, most independents are more active than official faction members.
<strike>3.Independents are nice people generally, unlike some official faction members who are not only arrogant, but sometimes attempt cyber-bullying on the forums.I've got screenshots to back up my claim</strike>.
<strike>4.Independents do not usually post in sanction threads which do not concern them.</strike>
5.Independents are fun, lolwut or not, lolwuts tend to produce laughs.Non-lolwuts are usually good roleplayers.
K,I'm done.
Stop it.Seriously, stop whining.Stop Q_Qing and stop trolling.Stop exaggerating things which are minor, stop whining about stuff which happens every time the blue moon appears.Stop Q_Qing because people do not comply to your wishes. This is not your personal universe where you can lord everyone around and judge people using your emotions.Think logically.Think.Just think.
I'm gone.Goodbye.
Quote:So we all know indies (unofficial faction members) cause problems on this server, e.g. Making conflicted faction RP / making faction negotiations and agreements weak if indies dont go along with it / that whole mess IMG had where its indies were attacking people, and it said they couldnt, and arguing ect.
Yeah, let's enslave every indie player out there - it's best to start with the independent traders, they have all the money of the indie faction:cool:
And true ... the indies cause problems on the server. More indies = more lag ... so, get rid of the indies and everything will be fine for Factionlancer server 24/7! :D
<div align="right]And yeah ... I don't take this thread too seriously. Cause it's annoying.
I don't think indies are any better, or worse than official factions. My roleplay doesn't suddenly improve when I wear a tag. There are lolwhuts, admitedly, but labelling all indies as such is plain wrong. Overall, indies give as much to disco as official factions do.
Indies are an absolute necessity to Disco, we need them because the server would be dead without them. I play both as an Indie and a Faction player. I'm certain the majority of faction players have Indie chars as well. I would be pretty vocal if Disco became faction-only.
' Wrote:Being an faction is fine in my opinion, as long as you stay in bounds of your RP and have a decent knowledge of English.
Also: faction =/= Lolwut
I love when I can do that. Seriously, this whole discussion as well as the comment I edited above rely on one basic idea that I find to be completely false, that inherently independent players are somehow less than. Jinx sums it up pretty well early in the thread, there are both good and bad aspects of both independent and factional roleplay. Both bring important things to the server and the community and one without the other would kill the server.
Someone should make one of those ying and yang symbols that Deiter has for PVP and RP with Faction and Independent on it. About the same in my eyes.
