Would there be a way to make it so the prices of goods fluctuate? That would add some variation of the traders.

and i think there is a problem with server resets. that would reset the prices, too - quite nasty when you crash in midspace with a f ull cargo load, close to your destination - and suddenly the prices are low again.

That's pretty much hardcoded, I think, but this would be sweet to see. Oh well, there goes Microsoft, without releasing the source code (MS won't do, so don't even bother to wish).

The economy functions in the real world in a dynamic way and it seems to turn out just fine. I've played a lot of World of Warcraft and it's economy works well too. We'd maybe need some kind of storehouse deal to stash stuff for later.

the only way that I see it would be possible, is if somebody made a auto-update program that dl'ed new files every time you tried to connect to the server.

I think it would piss people off. Seriously. I can only see it as complication so that everyone get angered at the price fluctuation. This is a game, not real life, I think there are limits to "reality"... In real life you dont get your commerical truck shot by a pirate tank.

It's too complicated to implement, and totally ruins the Freelancer trading habits. It's better to balance trade routes from version to version.

[offtopic] Btw, as far as I'm concerned, present-day pirates of the Indian Ocean got fairly powerful weaponry on many of their ships.
