Another issue - official factions tend not only to follow, but try and make canon RP as well, assuming, that some diplomatic actions are ok and acceptable as long as they're not protested by the authorities.

Also, it's good to see that official factions add flavor to the NPC factions by coming up with new elements of RP and new ideas. Indies also have many ideas and unofficial groups will influence the official factions with their points.

This, except for number three.

I have a LABC and on the odd occasion, I will be doing my normal thing (patrolling and BSU*) and come across a 'red' ship, be it junker or whatever.

If they aren't doing anything wrong, as an Indie, I have the option of leaving them alone and going on my way, attempting to RP with them, which may eventually lead to a fight or just plain old 'shooting the breeze' with them for a while.

In other words, being an Indie gives me some 'freedom' to do as I please, where if I was actually part of the [LN], the laws would dictate that I do 'something' within the RP for the [LN].

Of course, if I see an Outcast or a Pirate obviously getting up to mischief, I will look at the situation and if it is being handled by other players in the area, I'll move on.....unless the 'good guys' ask for help that is.

*BSU= blowing stuff up. This normally consists of: NPC ships that are shooting at me and NPC Republican Transports.

Without the ability to be an indy, there will be no freedom.

Without freedom there will be no fun.

Apart from that...

Indies are not the problem.

Factions are not the problem.

Noobs are not the problem.

Vets are not the problem.

People who think it is ok to disrespect fellow players are the problem.

Those exist in the forms of indies, factions, noobs, and vets.

Indies = Freedom of roleplay.
Factions= Guideline, discipline and example.

Indies with capships ----initiating flamefest----

1 An independent pilot shouldn't have access to a frickin' dreadnought

2 Most of them are "My **** is big so my ship must be big as well"

In conclusion. Indies are awesome just restrict cap ships to faction members /thread

PFFFT.

No friggen thanks. There's a reason why my capships aren't part of factions, and it is so I have freedom of control over them. If I wanna shoot at that fighter, it's my problem (it's also his problem for not getting out of the friggen way of my guns). If he brings backup, it's my problem too

I want to get off Mr. Igiss' wild ride.
