The simple answer is yes, but so is fast food or having a tattoo on your face.
If you smoke weed every day, rather than escaping reality it will become your reality.
& getting stoned every day will not enrich your life
This is very true.
People use many things to escape from the mundane elements of day to day life. It's what the majority of people do with their downtime... Something caguely distracting, which has an enjoyable feel to it.
Some like to have a beer or a joint for the sedative effect, and the fact that (if you're generally of a decent and cheery disposition anyway) it'll make you chatty and at ease. Some people prefer to do something active... sports and so on. That has another nice social effect, and can lift your mood, making you feel a little energised. Some people prefer to use self righteousness to gain their distraction, and fill their minds with judging other people's actions, in order to distract themselves from their own life.
All of those things I mentioned there have negative effects, mainly to your health.
Wanting to have something which is beyond the normal day-to-day life you lead is entirely human and natural. Wishing to find common ground to engage with people over is also a perfectly natural way of being. One of the three examples provides both, but at someone else's expense. I consider that a negative. Two of them are, in moderation, more healthy than that.
Like everything, if you feel the need to distract yourself from your daily life too much, and any one of those three things I mentioned, or other methods, become an obsession, then the problem doesn't lie in the distraction but in your life.

I find this highly doubtful. You've probably met many of them, they however keep their use to themselves. You know, it is illegal and all. I wouldn't go around making use of an illegal drug public knowledge either. Not that I use any of them.
